I doubt it was fixed, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if Conor and Floyd had a private conversation that went like this:

Conor: You wanna do this?
Floyd: You know you'll lose, right?
Conor: Yeah, probably. How much will I make?
Floyd: I dunno, like 1/3rd of what I do, and I'll make like 300 mi-
*Conor is suddenly shirtless*
Conor: LET'S FOOKIN GO

One shot according to who? You? Conor?

Mayweather already said Conor wasn't even the hardest puncher he's faced and it showed. You really just seem upset Conor got TKO'd. Conspiracy theories won't change what happened. Conor was never going to win this fight. He doesn't have the experience or the skill.

I don't even like McGregor at all. Just reasons why I could see the fight being rigged. Plus, you know, it's boxing. I'm not evening saying it was.

I have no emotional investment in either fighter and I'm bored at work right now.

Watching the match a few days late.
You people weren't joking when you said that McGregor lacked any kind of punch.
I'm in the 2nd or 3rd round, I'm so knowledgeable about any type of boxing I cannot make great comments but I noticed a few things :
- why is McGregor's punch lacking any kind of momentum when the few Mayweather throw felt like he was trying to drill his knuckle in the back of his opponent's head through the face?
- Mayweather feels like very mobile, he's really just defending so far and haven't taken any hard hit that I can see. He did get nailed by an uppercut but I can thank the replay for that because going from the flow of the match it had veeeeeeeery little effect. Feels like Mayweather takes bigger hit from the IRS than that punch.
- McGregor is so very static, he seems basically flat footed and only using his upper body to punch while Mayweather uses his whole body to guard
- I'm watching a boxing match, right? I think I saw a few grabs that don't seem very box-like.

Are people saying that McGregor had a shot? Because I can't really see it so far, feels like Mayweather has way more dangerous punches than McGregor.
e: was 2nd round.
Man I wouldn't want to be the back of the head of Mayweather, caught so many punches!

Using your logic every sporting event in the history of the world could be rigged.

Feel the same way but about MMA because of all the rigged matches in that sport. Is there even a single legit champ or winner in the UFC?! Probably never has been because there is no proof while there has been match fixing.

Possible I guess. Even in team sports it's possible a single person could be throwing. Shrug!

Maybe my view of professional boxing is just misguided and wrong though. I'm sorry, Boxing.

Can guarantee you the sport with the most match fixing and cheating in the world is football or also known as soccer in America. But even then no one believes Brazil threw their game vs Germany last WC. There is no reason to and those two wouldn't do it just as these 2 wouldn't.

R4 :
We're sure that it was a boxing match and not an MMA event or something?
I mean with that amount of grabs and all, I'm not sure what I'm watching now.

At this level of play, you don't buy the team, you usually buy the referee anyway.
and with how that game went you can be sure as hell no one was paid.

Exactly and same goes for the ref in this fight.

I'm looking at it right now, the ref is only stopping grabs and warning about illegal moves (when he catch them, because apparently McGregor having trouble finding Floyd's head aimed for the crotch at least once).
And having seen my fair share of questionable soccer matches, it's pretty blattant when the ref is in on the game.
Not the case here as far as I can tell.

e: the comments I have on my stream are garbo, knowing the outcome of the match makes it even worse.
Basically old has been gold star Mayweather against MMA KING McGregor.
Oh and Mayweather is the challenger apparently.

Finished,
Should name Conor McGregor as Conor Bugs McBunny with the number of rabbit punch he threw.
Not really a contest, it was only rigged in the way that me vs Armstrong would be a rigged contest.
I mean Lance Amstrong is a hack and a cheat but I'm pretty sure he would mope the floor with me in a bike contest without the need of a ref to rig it.

McGregor making 30 mil from this vs. his UFC record of 3 mil... Christ. I do think it's funny some people honestly believe that Conor could win this fight or that it was rigged. Conor's shit talking and overconfidence came from "marketing" since they'll make more from ppv sales. He fucking knew he would lose but who the hell is going to turn down participating and promoting a fight impossible to win for 30 million dollars?!! I'd gladly get fucking wrecked for just 100k at this point in my life lol.

Tldr; People thinking Conor had a chance are delusional.

Some of you guys ITT are really stupid. Go watch real boxing matches if you think McGregor even had a chance. I swear hot takes from UFC dudebros seem to go down to "Conor can hammer punch! He can bash Mayweather's face in" not knowing the difference in punching between boxing and UFC.

He probably made closer to $100m.

But maybe Floyd paid him another $100m to take a dive. (LOL).

Wow people think this was fixed?

In U.K. It was £20 and well worth the money. Stayed up all night to watch, was thoroughly entertained.

People who think it was "rigged" are nutjobs.
Only because the fight was deliberately carried to late rounds (and let's be real, it probably was) it doesn't mean the result was fixed.
If anything, because chances are the fight could have ended even faster.

That said, let's be real: the most entertaining thing about this fight was the characters involved, because under any other metric it was an awkward, dull match played mostly in second gear by Mayweather.

This is what an EXCITING boxing match looks like:

This is exactly what happened. These guys know how to hustle. They didn't have to fix anything to do it. It's always been all about the money.

There was literally no reason for Mayweather to not make the fight last for at least 4 rounds.
If it ended before that it wouldn't have counted toward his 50 victories.
and hey it's Vegas, might as well give a good show while they were at it.
If it was fixed, it's clearly the pre match banter to increase the view count.

Some possibility exists for McGregor to knockout Mayweather, yes. McGregor has the punching power. Just takes one shot. And a chance Mayweather's perfect record turns into 49-1 right before retirement? That would be devastating to his ego and legacy. Especially coming from a fighter in his first professional boxing bout. I wouldn't be surprised if it was rigged, just saying.

Yea the fight had go at least 4 rounds to be dubbed official. It even said in the rules before the fight along with no standing 8 count at whatnot.

Implying he fought dirty...

A dirty Mexican, if you will....

Get on with this racist, stereotypical, bullshit.

Mexican boxers are known to be aggressive, pressure fighters who fight with heart, don't mind getting hit and love the left hook to the body.

Floyd usually fights in a "hit but don't get hit" style but this fight he was more "seek and destroy." Mayweather never walks down opponents and is usually the one moving around the ring (what some people call running) so he can pop shot you to death with the 1-2.

This is why people love GGG (Golovkin), because he is from Kazakhstan, but embraces the "Mexican Style" and is entertaining as hell.

That's only for an accidental head clash resulting in a bad cut for one of the competitors.

I remember the time Barrara fought Khan; Barrara picked up a really nasty cut from a clash of heads in the first round that would of ordinarily stop the fight, but the ref let it continue all the way to the fifth round to allow it to count as a win instead of a no contest.

Thats only for a stoppage. If the fight is stopped due to an accidental clash of head before 4 rounds, it's ruled a no contest. If it's more than 4 rounds they go to the score cards.

Why in the world would a fight not count if it doesn't go 4 rounds otherwise? LIke, what the fuck did you guys think happened in cases of a 1st round KO? Fighters are penalized for winning too soon? How much common sense does that make?

I did say I wasn't a specialist, that what info I got from the stream.
It was markedly shitty and full of shitty commentaries so it may have been the idiots commenting on this for all I know.

That reallllllly pissed me off, but the fight was in England so.....

Common sense should come in to play here though, do you really think a fight wouldn't count if someone got knocked out before round 4? Why would each fighter even try to fight in the first 4 rounds if that was the case.

Even regardless Mayweather was picked out of retirement for this.
To provide some spectacle was clearly part of the plan for him.
He certainly is aware that people would pay to see him lose so extending the fight certainly make sense in that regard.
There's literally zero reasons for him to finish the fight in the 1st few rounds.

The reason he didn't end it in the first few rounds it's because he's a very methodical, defensive minded fighter who was fighting someone very unorthodox, and wanted to take some time to learn McGregor's movements and get his timing down, and on top of that, when it became readily apparent that McGregor was green as baby shit and almost no threat to him in terms of power or technique, and was fighting at a pace that was going to tire him out, he had even more reason to lay back, execute his game plan, and pick his shots rather than rush in like Clubber Lang. Mayweather gets paid the same regardless. Once the bell rings he has no reason to extend the fight just for the sake of the fans. Why should he give a shit about the fans, he already has their money?

"Should I wait, let this inexperienced guy tire himself out for a few rounds, figure out his patterns and timing, or should I rush in like an idiot giving him the one in a million chance he might need to catch me with an errant shot?" Hmmmm

I'm not saying I disagree, I'm saying if you totally ignore the psychology of the fighters and go from an exterior PoV there's plenty of reasons why he wouldn't rush the fight anyway.
From what I gathered Mayweather is known for being defensive and methodical, he didn't rush in like an idiot. From what I've seen it didn't seem like McGregor was ever going to get anywhere anyway, Mayweather's defense wasn't that needed considering how the opponent was fighting anyway.
If McGregor was hitting really hard even with the same stamina, I don't think Mayweather would have fought the way he did.

Funniest thing about this is people thinking the ref was biased towards floyd. Even though conor should have been DQ'd by the 4th round due to all the illegal shit he was doing. At the very least should have gotten multiple points deducted
