I hope he is back as soon as possible. While I'm glad that CVX has at least been kind enough to start the Media create thread these last couple of weeks, they haven't been the same without Cheese.

I can't remember what I said for my ToS2 prediction a few weeks back, but I think I was relatively close. While ToS2 had a softer debut than a lot of people were expecting (prior to hearing the shipment numbers), it's good to see that the game boosted Wii sales by a bit.

Both of MGS4's drops so far have been significantly larger than MGS3's drops over the same time period, from a very similar opening week. Even if it only drops 40% each week from here on out it won't make it to 625k.

Is horse racing really popular in Japan?

Yes it is. It officially a "Keiba" simulation game. Essentially a horse breeding game, where you buy/sell horses, breed them, feed them, train them, and race them. They use real life horses from the racing circuit, and have a full family lineage of these horses inside the game. You must manage things like estrous cycles, feed/staff/stable costs, and must prep them for racing. Winning races is where you get your funding to buy/sell new horses. Its a pretty deep and involving game.

Derby Stallion is also a long running series that has a strong brand name. Its the Dragon Quest of horse racing simulators. The closest competitor is Koei's Winning Post. In addition, Derby Stallion has been on consoles and PCs since the Famicom days. Its been on almost every system since: NES, SNES, SS, N64, GBA, PS, PS2, PSP, PC,MAC, DOS/V, PC9800, FM-TOWNS, DoCoMo, and now DS. I think Square also made a simplified variant of Derby Stallion called "Chocobo Stallion" which used the Derby Stallion system and play mechanics.

No. It's remaining at a pretty constant position relative to the DS, increasing and decreasing pretty much in step. PS3? Bump. It's coming back down. PSP? New baseline.

Just my opinion, anyways.

Great Sadness befalls me. The harvest moon rip-off series is dead. Can't believe I made up 0.05% of the purchases of this game, can't even find anybody else in Japan that has played it. Sad thing is the game actually had a budget and staff. and it really does offer some nice improvements over the typical harvest moon formula.

Anybody have any sales data on the original ps2 version(original release 12/25/2003, simple 2000 version: 1/26/2006? I imagine it had to have sold much better considering it got a simple 2000 release. the original ps2 version is also nicely getting ported to North America if anybody cares

The Wii FPS game is also great. It is essentially the PSP games, except with squad commands, more customization, and a more realistic model of playing. You can't boost for long or anything like that. It is also probably the closest to another Side Story game from the Dreamcast.

Did this game ever make it to NA? I've been dying to play it.

Yeah 12000 unit difference is kinda unexceptable. I guess this really shows how much guess work and averaging is involved when making these numbers. Hell, the PS3 may actually be winning the console war and we don't know it!
