Decent outing today. Was hoping to see splinter cell and GTA. New HMD was a pipedream.
The game showcase only focuses on games. Connect is when they announce hardware. I think gta is going to be like splinter cell and assassins creed and be vaporware. Those remasters of gta were a mess and that has to be what they are using for the port since it's unreal engine 4 and is all setup for VR development. Resident evil 4 vr was also ported over to unreal engine 4. Unity and unreal engine make up pretty much 100 % of VR game engines. I think the climb 1 and 2 uses the cry engine and then you have dr beef ports of quake 1-3 and doom 3 which obviously don't run on the big two.

I feel like GTA is not vaporware. I agree about splinter cell tho. The announcement was too official coming from zuck himself and seems like the next big RE4 type of thing.

I respect the devs and meta for such an oddball pic of their next big VR game. RE4 was an inspired choice and it was made flawlessly. San Andreas is a head scratcher. It's got on foot, shooting, driving flying all in one, seems like a recipe for more experienced VR legs. It's got hookers, strip clubs drugs ECT, and Facebook is footing the bill. That's wild. Honestly, Facebook could be a much worse steward for the VR industry.

To say thank you for all the support we’ve received this year, we’ve released a free update to “Welcome Island,” the main menu area where you start the game!

Enjoy our driving range mini game, an expansive putting practice area with the ability to pick up and even throw your ball, a raft ride, pool lounge, additional vacation-themed avatar hats, and several more quality of life features like the ability to mute individual players and settings in the main menu. Come check it out!

Small thing of note here: the Espire sequel appears to be Quest-exclusive? The first game was for PC, PS4VR and Quest, but this one says it was made specifically for Quest and only lists Quest as a platform for the planned 2022 release. Maybe it'll add more platforms later, or maybe it'll be a true exclusive?

(They do show footage running on a PC, but I assume that's for the demo.)

With Splinter Cell being vaporware and hitman 2 vr being being pretty janky and not available in standalone quest this will have to be the game that scratches that itch.

Stealth games are a perfect fit for VR. I keep hoping zuck throws bucks at Konami to get metal gear solids 1-3 on the quest platform. Espire 2 looks pretty good from the trailer though and i'm very interested in the co-op campaign.

I just think it's having troubled development. Those remasters were a disaster and we just know the vr port is based on those for the ease of VR development over the old engine they used.

I really don't think facebook is any worse than say Microsoft or Zuck is worse than any microsoft ceo past or present. I've brought that up several times here and other gaming forums and been called a shill or asked if I came from era. Facebook is pretty much single handedly pushing VR along with Sony also being a big contributor.

Absolutely. Facebook's acquisition of oculus is the best thing that has happened for VR besides Palmer Lucky and Carmack. I feel like without them we would be 5 years in the past for vr. All ships are lifted due to quest. I don't have any hate for Zuck, infact without him my small business wouldn't EXIST.

But yeah, in my head san andreas looks like shit in vr. Hope im wrong. I just think Dead space 1 and 2 in vr would have been a better, but less lucrative choice.

Absolutely yes, dead space 1 and 2 would be outstanding in VR. I think San Andreas could be very good in VR. The flight and car controls would have to be customizable. Also, if you like to play standing it might feel a bit awkward for the driving and flying. That boating sequence in resident evil 4 was a bit strange playing standing

Now that I think about it san andreas might be better played seated. Resident evil 4 has an outstanding seated setup. I play it in bed sometimes and it works great having that floating circular belt you use to reach out and grab your gun and ammo. It's also a bit tough to play a game for an hour + standing.

Lol yeah I played in bed once it worked out pretty sweet. I don't like playing seated sometimes because my arms hang in front of me like I'm a velociraptor

Meta should do a deal with MS to make Quest 2 version of Minecraft VR, or even make a Minecraft Dungeons VR. Would sell like hotcakes.

Just tried Premium Bowling for the first time. This game is fucking awesome. At first I thought the game just didn’t have good spin/curve tracking, then I switched to the MaxBHP ball and I’m getting all kinds of action with it. Should have been one of the first games I bought. Perfect party game paired with a Chromecast for streaming to the crowd.

Played Yuki for about 90 min today finally. Its honestly really damn good for a shmup in general, let alone a VR one.

You basically move your hands 1:1 on the screen so it feels floaty. Your right hand is Yuki, a flying mech pilot that shoots. And your left hand is a little r-type style pod mostly used to float around and grab orbs, but also has a super move. You also have a brief shield block on a cooldown.

The game is very short. In about 90 min I got to stage 4, which looks like its about 60% through. Its also unfortunately a roguelike so you can't continue. But I quickly was getting better at the game and can now fly through the first 3 stages mostly easily now. You also get permanent upgrades in between runs that boost your life and other things.

Graphics are really stylized and cool. The first major boss looks amazing. I got it on sale a while back for $15 and feel thats totally fair. Im going to be replaying this a lot. If its ever $10 or something then its a steal. I recommend it but just know that its a short arcade shooter title and thats it, but a very good one.

Its amazing what they've done with everything! Especially the Challenges...tell me what you think about them! My favorite one so far is the Handcannon one...😈
Yeah, it's a highlight so far.
Apart from being a blast to play, what impressed me is the devs have created a whole separate vest layout just for this challenge.

On topic of which, RE4VR without exaggeration has the best virtual holsters/carrier vest. It's about the only game where I can operate them completely blind with 100% consistancy.

Damn! I just got this for my wife. It is literally the only videogame she will play.
There's some enjoyment in there but its just not what I envisioned in my head. Its very laid back. I'll still play it a bit. Its not as good as bust a move though thats for sure. The aiming is a bit weird and I dont know why I only get like 4 coins a level lol. Already seen like over 1000g in unlocks.

I was reading an article yesterday that using a smaller face guard can improve fov from 92 to 99 degrees horizontally, and you don't lose comfort compared to the stock faceguard. Not sure if it's true but that's a nice jump.

I have to agree with you on this. It is nothing like what I was picturing in my head at all, but it's okay. What I don't like - and maybe this comes to play later as strategy - is why do the puzzles rotate when you shoot them. I am only a few levels in, but hard to build a strategy off that if it's random as it appears to be. No regrets, but glad I paid only $6 for it.

I'm tempted to pick up the Vader Immortal trilogy for 50% off. I remember hearing they were short, but for $15 it seems like it would be a good deal. Anybody have feedback on the Immortal trilogy, or even the Star Wars Tales or Pinball?

I would highly recommend Immortal. Not sure on pinball. My friend bought it and said the actual room is cooler than the tables.
I picked up Tales myself and played ten minutes. Seems great so far. Immortal for sure though!!! It has the lightsaber dojo for replayability. Everyone I have shown that to loves it!

I got it for $15 last sale and think it is well worth the price! I am one of those people though who don't mind an interactive experience so go in with those expectations. But what an awesome interactive experience it was! The story is kind of okay but being in VR made me more engaged with what was going on. Even after the short 2–3-hour experience, the DOJO is a ton of fun and offers a bunch of replayability and hours to master. There is a dojo for each chapter with different arena and weapon unlocks. There's even some customization. I'm actually thinking of getting Tales from Galaxy Edge on Sale.
