If ur upset that a "West Coast" rapper claimed King of NY..... U CAN ONLY BE MAD AT URSELVES... U DID THIS.

He's right. NY doesn't have a spokesman right now. The underground is dope (Roc Marciano, Bronson, etc) but they aren't dominating their region.

We all know Aubrey will never respond, he probably sent Kendrick a text saying "OMG Kenny! That was aw, that was an amazing verse, you're my fave rapper! #OVO #AllMe #YourMyNewFriend"

Isn't he older than all of the others?

New school doesn't really have a real age limit. It's really basically the division of cats who rapped about the hustle/streets/gang life versus cats nowadays rapping about love/mollies/partying.

Danny would definitely be considered part of the new school especially since he's on the come up like the rest of them.

J Cole has to say something. Would be mad disappointed if he stayed silent.

Yeah, long live the west, may they never be your best
Jay was like Jesus, Kendrick aced the test
Now what you're 'bout to hear's a tale of glory and sin
K. Dot my mentor now let the story begin

I used to print TDE raps and tape 'em up on my wall
My niggas thought they was words, but it was pictures I saw
And since I wanted to draw, I used to read 'em in awe
Then he dropped Good Kid, shitting on us for sure
Fast forward, who thought that I would meet him on tour?
I'm just doing it nigga, got Cortez galore
Backstage I shook his hand, let him know that he's the man
When he said he was a fan it was too hard to understand
No time to soak up the moment though, cause I was in a jam
K askin' where's the record that the radio could play
And I was strikin' out for months, 9th inning feeling fear
Jeter under pressure, made the biggest hit of my career
But at first, that wasn't clear, niggas had no idea
Q tweeted when it dropped, sounded sad but sincere
Told me Kendrick heard your single and he hate that shit
Said you the one, yo why you make that shit
I can't believe I let Kendrick down
Damn, my heart sunk to my stomach, I can't believe I let Kendrick down
I got defensive on the phone, resentment was in my tone, fuck it

Kendrick Lamar got more buzz for the album than Big Sean did

talk about a fail.
No, it was a wise decision. Someone was eventually going to leak the song or, at the least, Kendrick's part of the song.

It's better for Big Sean to get it out now and release it himself than have it leak around the time his album actually comes out.

As for people asking why this thread exists. This thread has more replies than the new Lady Gaga single thread.

Holy. Fuck. I knew when I started listening to Kendrick a few years ago this kid was destined to be one of the best, but this shit is unreal. Fuck.

'Bout to pull an IrishNinja.

Why does gafhop think these things deserve there own threads and why does gafhop only hype mainstream rap?
You know better than anyone that this isn't the case.
*their

Feel free to make an underground hop thread. Would be more than willing to participate.
The Bandcamp thread already exists.
I love how Gaf-Hop is too mainstream and not mainstream at the same time.
Yep.

True, but I think people are glad someone's forcing everyone to step up. There are so many soft dudes in that list. I can't listen to J Cole, Wale, or Drake.
This is crazy to me. College cats trying to claim they relate more to dudes who claim to have banged in middle school. No disrespect but are dudes named after bleach and mortal kombat characters the right guys to be calling others hard or soft - all on a video game message board!?!

It'll be interesting to see who really responds to this.

If anyone goes hard in a response I bet it will be Meek Mill. That guy loves to talk shit.

Meek Mill Responds

Meek Mill said:
“Kendrick Lamar, I don’t think he was trying to insult any of us, you know. We all know each other personally," Meek said. “There were a lot of names that weren’t mentioned. I like those type of games. I definitely don’t think it was an insult. It was a competition thing. A competitive type thing. I live for competition. Everyone who knows me knows I don’t want to lose in a game of nothing. I don’t want to lose in a game of tic-tac-toe. I’m not going to make a diss record for Kendrick Lamar. But if he wants to get competitive, we’re going to have some fun.”

"Who are you then" isn't really relevant as a rebuttal to how I like my rappers.

Joell's track was good but he's always been a very solid dude. I'm not a fan of response records like this though, especially over the same beat.

He couldn't do anything if he wanted to LOL

one of the worst MCs out. I've never heard a good verse from Meek

What? He's not great or anything but he fucking went ham on the intro to his album and also another song which I think was called traumatized

Kendrick busted a good verse but Internet is running way too far with it, freaking tmz is talking about the verse lol
