Despite it not even being in the same genre, Bird Mania 3D sure isn't shy about its inspiration.

Though I can't seem to actually click on any of them for more information, curious what Pictobits is exactly.

Puzzle game. Amazingly good. My favorite piece of DSiWare. Incredibly difficult at higher levels

Wasn't that one of the first DSiWare titles? It's a part of the Art Style series, which I've heard great things about.

You should probably note that Mario Kart 7 is getting a patch (worldwide) during mid-May to remove a shortcut glitch.

I didn't hear anything about it, although it sounds plausible. I'll check, though.

Regarding Cave Story DSiWare: no one said anything about cancelling the EU release of that version yet, apparently. It was supposedly submitted to NoE for approval a couple of weeks ago.

But we all know how Nicalis rolls.

Cave Story 3D is a complete remake with 3D models, whereas Cave Story+ on the eShop will be the original game (with original sprites) with many of the added features from Cave Story+ on PC, and of course the added 3D effect.

Don't worry, they'll still release Cave Story DSiWare in Europe to give us something to play while we wait for Cave Story's eShop release in 2014.

I asked Nicalis about it on twitter a few days ago and this is what I got:

Quote:
@nicalis Hi! Any news of Cave Story DSiWare being released in Europe? I would kill for it :(

@gerudo90 That's coming soon for 3DS and DSi, then NightSky. Working on final adjustments on the 3D for NightSky.
I guess that if they say it's also coming for DSi it's because they're planning to release at least the DSiWare. I wouldn't be surprised if we europeans get Cave Story DSi this month but have to wait for Cave Story+ for more than a year. It wouldn't make sense to release both versions in a short period of time.

It also makes zero sense to con people for the inferior version then release the + version later on! :O

How is it a con when it's clearly announced that both versions are coming?

The DSiWare version will simply be for people who don't have a 3DS.

DSiWare and WiiWare will probably stop updating when the DSi and Wii go out of print, or shortly before that.

I'm going to grab EcoShooter and Snowpack Park for sure - 2 more first-party WiiWare games I won't have to spend Wii Points on. :)

I've gotta scrounge up an extra 150 coins by the end of the month though. :S

The Bird Mania 3D trailer is also on the eShop if you search... oddly enough I'm slightly interested, since it's only $2 and looks like a bit of a fun twist on the autorunner genre (or perhaps a bit of SHMUP escape sequence.) Hopefully NintendoLife will give a rundown of how long it'll last.

Yes. Yes. Yes yes yes. My only solace is in the fact that it was announced for EU release, but sadly that doesn't always mean anything for NA.

While I agree with your general point, I don't think that's entirely true in NOA's case, since they seem hell-bent on only releasing one game per system per week... if that.

Well presumably if they could no longer make Wii/DSiWare games they'd move onto eShop games.
Of course though, that doesn't mean they would be any better.
