Now you may find it inconceivable or at the very least a bit unlikely that the relative position of the planets and the stars could have a special deep significance or meaning that applies to only you but let me give you my assurance that these forecasts and predictions are all based on solid scientific evidence so you would have to be some kind of moron not to realize that every single one of them is absolutely true!

Well thats a hectic night.

The key feeling i have right now is towards Scrafty being scum.
So yesterday she got pretty damn close to being lynched, and a part of the suspicion on her was due to her activity being almost purely reactionary, and doing very little in the way of scum hunting, and now she comes in today making a huge show of how she is doing the total opposite , building a mountain out of a molehill in her case against corn ( a case not without merit, but i personally think its blowing things way out of proportion).
it reads to me as a nervous scum taking the night to review what they were doing wrong, and overcompensating in their attempt to undo the damage.

This vanilla/steal ability, if it was neutral aligned, would it count on a role that has used their power?

I'm thinking choosing squidy at this point seemed problematic, though i guess it's something we won't see until flip.

I think squidy being the target has me thinking it's potentially a scum power rather than a neutral. Scum wanted to neutralise the cop, as he could be lying about the single shot.

Hey Scrafty! Thanks for checking in with your opinion. Your calling out of CornBurrito made me remember something - namely, the words of Retro and Splinter, which I'll quote here (I snipped Splinter's post a little for space, but click on the link to get to the rest of her list):

So both Retro and Splinter suspected scum, but for some reason, some of their suspicions never gained traction. If scum is really controlling Town narrative, I think it's important to look at the opinions of dead confirmed Town, especially when it comes to who they suspected as scum.

...but not just anyone they suspected as scum. We should be taking a look at their scum suspicions that 'slipped through the cracks' yesterday. Why didn't Corn ever face heavy fire? For that matter, why didn't Terra? I think those two were their big 'overlap' suspects that for some reason never seemed to be the dominant subject of discussion.

What do people think?

I'm not feeling particularly good about Corn myself, though I'm weary of following the opinions of two dead Town on day 1.

The one major thing against him was his absolute certainty that squidy was lying, coupled with him wanting to lead a lynch on him for this lie which didn't make sense for scum to make.

So I've given players 2 opportunities to comment on an idea and now I'm going to reveal something.

Someone approached me last night. They could have been a man, a woman, a small child, or perhaps some sort of human alien hybrid (probably not a full alien though). I could not tell which for they were shrouded in mystery.

Well this fluff got a bit sci fi. How odd.

  • Magnumboy shot Retro because he wanted to off someone who seemed suspicious
  • A HEEL killed Magnumboy because they didn't want a threat running around
  • Kalor hid behind either Retro or Magnumboy because both claimed PR and was killed when either MB shot Retro or a HEEL offed MB
  • Splinter tried to give a gift to a dangerous customer and was killed in the process

OK the first two are valid theories. Why would Kalor hide behind one of the claimed PR, since one was pretty suspicious (retro) and the other was a claimed vigi, who was most likely getting rekt last night? I don't see Kalor choosing these two targets,

Splinter is interesting. It could be possible, and it passed me by but he's probably going to be the kill that'll be the hardest to discern.

How do you feel about TerraByte, the other 'big suspect'? Also, I'm curious as to who are your top scum at the moment.

Terra's not good, he's just sort of there and I don't find his contributions meaningful. He doesn't feel like scum to me, though.

The problem we have is with the high amount of kills, we don't have much of a margin for error. Though N2 should at least be a little quieter

Top scum right now is bronx-man, Cornbro.

I'm quite unsure of Scrafty, Palmer, Kawl and Salva.

It's possible that he believed THE ROCK would provide him with ROCK-SOLID protection, or just that he thought he'd have a better shot at safety with him rather than with a complete unknown. If LA DIABLA were in his position, she would try to avoid hiding with unclaimed superstars because the risk of running afoul of a HEEL would be A DEFINITE RISK.

For someone so concerned over scum possibly controlling the flow of conversation on day 1, nuked you sure seem to have no problem dictating the topic now.

And again, I'm glad Squidy decided to use his one shot to clear Blargonaut and not someone who was in the thick of suspicion. At least we have ample time to slowly move through our suspicions one mislynch at a time....

And scum mates please speak up soon and redirect conversation away from me like you did day 1....

Oh damn it seems like people are content to let votes and general opinion slowly form and fester. Gee whiz that sure is convenient.

As far as the vote at the end of yesterday, the goal was to try to shift towards a two dog race instead of the almost 4 way tie we had at the time. That of course didn't prevent the end of the day from getting as crazy as I should really expect given Gafia. I didn't have much justification for Terra cause I didn't really feel strongly about him one way or another. Rarely do on day 1.

Squidy could you be a doll and make clear any of the questions you've put forth that I've been "avoiding"?

Can we lynch blarg?

He could still possibly be a 3rd party right?

Also is this his response to people being upset over his mega post in Love Boat? If so it too far the other direction lover.

Of course. What else would I do? Continue to let scum dictate the topic of discussion? Speaking up is the obvious thing to do as Town, and if you are Town, you would have stopped to think about this and realized why I'm trying to be more assertive/active. So either you really doesn't think I'm town (where was this suspicion before?) or you're just trying to cast a little shade on me now because OMGUS.

You seem to be repeating the pattern of behavior you had earlier with Squidy by being reactively defensive and not actually responding to why I suspect you - the fact that you don't really take any controversial stances and that you're fluffy. Despite your anger when being called out, you play very safely in your opinions, and you also haven't really been scum hunting.

You're right I should have manufactured more controversial stances to make sure I got the appropriate amount of flak instead of just posting my actual thoughts. I guess my brain has just been working too safely this game. Damn.

And yes the first point is the one I was leaning towards, and what an odd statement, the suspicion is coming from your recent posts and I just stated it. Suspicion doesn't have to have been festering all along from the word go to be valid.

And yes I am being fluffy and lazy in scum hunting. I find day 1 mostly dreary and incredibly hit or miss for scum hunting (as can be seen by our great record of suspects) and have been too busy to do actual analysis beyond just keeping up with the thread for this far into day 2. Sorry for keeping some posts light hearted. Always forget Gafia is no fun allowed unless your name is Blarg.

This is kinda the issue with him getting cleared*. He can go fully mental and get away with it now.

*I know he MIGHT be a Neutral.

I see you've stopped playing Street Fighter Kawl :p

I've just got up, I'm gonna read back through day 1 and see if I can see anything interesting to go on.

Though nuked, I am quite interested that you've said that you think scum have been controlling the conversation but have said nothing about cabot who's been front and centre, which surely would be the best place to control the conversation from?

Anyway yeah, going to have a re-read of the thread. Brb.

Scrafty why wouldn't Kalor target you? Two reasons why I could see it

1) He thought like some of us, targeting you if you commuted would make him immune, obviously not true, but not impossible that he thought this.
2) He knew the way a commuter and hider would work, and therefore would choose you to 'stay home' at night. He had some people suspicious of him, it would've been a decent way of keeping alive.

nin, can you confirm that Kalor had to send a hide target, or was it optional?

Because LA DIABLA's DANCE skills make her UNTOUCHABLE as per the normal commuter rules, so he likely correctly figured that his ability would simply fail if he used it on the UNTARGETABLE form of LA DIABLA. It's as simple as that, really.

Kawl who's mafia though? Why'd you vote magnum? If you wanted to make a 4 dog race into a 2 dog race there has to be a reason you voted one dog over the other dog.

Didn't like Bowlie before being replaced, and you've done little to improve my opinion.

Cornbro because of how hard he went in on squidy. I don't think its a normal jump in logic to assume squidy was a scum lying about having a day ability, which can be proven easily.

Bowlie was posting mostly fluff, and going for Blarg in early D1 which is the easiest person to go for in D1, since you rarely get anything useful out of him.

Your gif responses and not particularly helpful answers this day I have not liked. Kinda doesn't feel you're doing much unless your name is involved in someone's post.

To be fair, I really thought Squidyj was lying as well. I was just willing to go along with it until D2 to see what his endgame was.

If he hadn't used it D1, and had nothing to show for it today, he'd be on the chopping block for sure.

Them continuing to go after him AFTER he used his ability is really weird though.

For the vanilla-izer I feel like Neutral is the more likely alignment. Targeting Squidy, who'd purportedly already used his role to the full extent, suggests that someone needs to vanilla people, but didn't want to hurt town a ton.

It is certainly not town since the ability is far more likely to hurt town unless the roles in this game are pretty weird. I guess it could be a CPR Doctor variant? Save someone if they get killed, but strip their role if they don't?

It seems too powerful to be scum, and I feel like they would've targeted someone else.

nin, can you confirm that Kalor had to send a hide target, or was it optional?

Kalor's PM says "may". I do assume that he did target someone since it clears anyone he is able to hide behind. I expect he hit scum.

If I had been Kalor another person I would've considered hiding behind was Burbeting, since I feel like Mafia typically don't kill Millers since Town often ends up doing it for them, so that'd be a pretty safe spot.

Let's see I'll just consult my big list o scum here aaaaaand, oh looks like Palmer, Matt Attack, Ultron, and Scrafty make up our baddies this time around.

And no not really. Day 1 all suspects look pretty much equal before the dust is settled. I literally voted one person and changed right after seeing that I hadn't achieved the goal of creating a larger disparity of votes. I wasn't married to my vote in any way really.

That's my point, most people assumed he was lying but it was some sort of gambit from a non-scum play, which makes sense considering the claim.

I myself wasnt 100% sure of a squidy lie, I detailed my reasons before in this post:

squidyj; Reasons I can believe this role claim:

  1. I used this ability in Election to clear nin himself, so I can see it being in his own game
  2. Until I see credible evidence otherwise, I'm going to assume The Authority are the scum team and Shane McMahon has always been the black swan in the storylines so he being town aligned is believable
  3. I was under the impression squidy doesnt follow wrasslin, and Shane wouldn't be my first goto claim as a casual/non-fan.

Reasons I struggle with this claim:

  1. He claimed before he used it, then said he didn't plan on using it today. Considering scum would want to eliminate this ability because it could find one of them or confirm a townie, it's a poor decision.
  2. The 'It's as real as Wrestling' line. We all know wrasslin ain't real.

I used my power first, I was the vote frontrunner in Election for most of D1, but it eventually got to nin and as soon as he was majority I used it, got the result and claimed after the fact. Note that with my role in Election, I was able to check myself as vote leader. It was obviously a waste of a power so I didn't want that to happen.

Cornbro was the only one that thought from the off that squidy was completely lying and was probably scum.

Vote: ScraftyDevil

I'd rather use day 1 to cut through some of the confusion and murkiness brought up by these semi conflicting claim. Just because scum would have been provided fake claims doesn't mean they won't go off the reservation (cough*Darryl*cough). Neither of the two parties have inspired a great deal of confidence (yes including Retro despite the interpretation of me trying to take a bullet in his defense yesterday) so let's get two birds stoned at once.
I don't believe Squidy at all at this point but I'll switch this vote to Retro if he claims that he wants to publicly investigate Retro.

Vote: RetroMG

For the check. My actual lynch vote will return to Scrafty if Squidy is a lying sack.

Seeing as YN was kind enough to show how massively I botched that attempt at untying...

Vote: MagnumBoy20xx

Will return to probably change this vote tomorrow, barring oversleeping.

Not a logical read progression. Kawl doesn't even mention magnum on day 1 as far as I could see re reading.

Kawl_USC

So you think scrafty is mafia but you voted magnum because all the day 1 people were equally scummy.
Iirc my vote was already on Scrafty meaning leaving it there wasn't helping create front runners.

Or it may have been on retro to get the Squid check. I'm not entirely sure, it was late and I had had a few.

The full sentence of "Each night you may send the command" kind of puts me off, it seems I'm not gonna get an answer to my question frustratingly.

I'd like to know because if he had to do it, I could see Kalor believing Scrafty's claim (nothing in D1 suggests he didn't) and hiding with her. It would be pretty darn likely she'd activate last night, so he would essentially 'stay home'.

Your point about Bear also makes sense though, and his D1 performance after the initial claim did pick up and appear more Town. It's another valid choice.

I don't understand the logic. Why would he want to stay home, exactly? Nobody knew he was a hider at that point.

Safest option to stay alive? he wasn't seen as town universally and there were a number of claims out in the open. It would've made him a surprising choice.

Not impossible, though.
