Ep.12(?) spoilers: You know, the reveal that Todd
is an asexual was really surprising. How often does that show up in television? LGBTQ is big right now, but how often does the lack of sexuality come up?

Yeah, I loved that. It felt perfect for what we already know about the character and it was handled beautifully as well.

The random animal gags in this season are excellent. Slugs drinking margaritas got me good

I just wrapped season 3.

Thoughts on life:
I've spent the last several minutes trying to write my feelings on what happened at the end. None of it makes sense. I can't put anything into the proper words to describe the absolute swirl of emotions and thoughts swimming around in my head. Life is complicated. Life is hard. Life is just a series of loops we keep repeating over and over again until we die, thinking we could actually change when nothing ever does. It never gets easier even if we tell ourselves the exact opposite.

S3 ending spoiler:
I like to think that the wild horses ending is still somewhat a positive note for him, even if we all know that he is right. He's poison and that's his legacy. And nothing he ever does or accomplishes will ever change that.

The background gag that made me laugh the most wasn't even an animal one:
It was the dude trying to find the correct way to position the tower of Pisa painting

I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
I wouldn't recommend it. A major point of the show is the progress of the main character's development. You'll also be missing a lot of world building.

So I'm about halfway through the first season and am kinda getting into it. I can sort of see what you're getting at as far as the change in tone. At first the show just came off very Family Guy-esque in its humor and flashback gags and whatnot, but it's pretty obvious it's more than that at this point.

Also is it just me or does this show have an awesome opening theme song?

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
I thought I had made a comment in this thread but I guess not. I'm up to episode 4 but man I still don't care for Todd even after 3 seasons. Otherwise like season 1 and 2 I'm not a huge fan of the first episodes. They have some great moments but a lot of the comedy feels a bit forced and falls flat. Then again I usually much prefer the more serious or intense episodes towards the end of the season which I'm sure is going to happen with this season as well.

well, if it wasnt for gaf,
sarah lynn's dead
would have been more impactful, but damn gaf can predict the future sometimes, anyways,i think they
totally wasted that dead
, first they tease it, only to be like "oh you thought we gonna be doing the predictable thing" and then they do the predictable thing.
maybe if they had show the funeral or something but eeh.

great season all around, here is for waiting another year!

Best season so far imo I just finished ep. 5. I love how I couldn't predict that
Diane was pregnant
Personally I thought
She'd get into a fight with Mr. Peanut Butter for staying at the party all night and not calling. It was a nice surprise that she went home to him. and expressed her feelings.
However, what Bojack ended up doing was pretty boilerplate lol
Tod is a virgin I'm guessing?

I had my suspicions last season when they never introduced a love interest for him. I'm really glad they went that direction. First time I can think of that a big show actually had a real Asexual character.

Also what was the name of that song at the end of Episode 12? Having trouble finding it on Google.

Also a cool callback to the S1 finale where Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses" played during the closing montage.

My theory on that:
I think they had two scenarios for the end of Season 3, one with the death of Bojack and the other being Sarah Lynn. They might have been waiting on if Netflix was going to give them another season to continue to the story they had for Bojack of if that was it. Works with the very very early confirmation on Season 4.

Also a cool callback to the S1 finale where Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses" played during the closing montage.

Exactly what I was thinking as well. Really cool.

I just finished it. I think they handled a lot of sensitive topics in a very classy way. And wow that ending
I thought it did a very good job at showing how life is complicated because it left me feeling so many emotions that I can't really describe. The race horse thing was really nice and I'm not that surprised that Todd is asexual(?) and I thought they did that in a classy way. Usually every season ends on a positive note but the whole season was just a downward spiral. I wonder how many seasons they want to do

Just finished the season a bit ago. Man alive, the show's depth never ceases to amaze me. I'm still feeling the last couple episodes.

I'm only on episode 2, but they make 2007 seem like it was such a long time ago. It's making me feel old :(

Frighteningly enough, it was a long time ago.

Finished it. Another great season!

Although I don't see how people are reading so much into the ending.
Remember what Mr. Cuddly Whiskers told Bojack at the end of episode 3.

Good binge watch

Gotta say I find a good 60% of the humor annoying, like not funny at all (wordplay, puns, forced "silly" jokes) some is gold though. The drama is still what makes the show, but it seems like they're treading much of the same ground in terms of character development.

Just finished it. Another fantastic season. Just incredible. Props to the entire crew on the show. That's easily up there as my favourite season of TV so far this year.

Also what was the name of that song at the end of Episode 12? Having trouble finding it on Google.

Literally the first thing I did when I finished watching because it was such a perfect song to end the season with.

Ok Episode 4 was great
I kept wondering why no one was using the speaker on their helmets for like half the episode. The whole episode was good as yet another reminder that I think Bojack just wants someone to love him and love back without all the bull shit built into his life at that point.

Spoiler for end of season.

In hindsight, this episode was definitely one of those hints about him being a father.

Just finished it. Wow what a season, so many good jokes, so many risks taken
The underwater episode that was 90% no talking was amazing
. Question about the ending, maybe I missed it during the season but
the young teenage horse girl who was calling to see if she could get in contact with Bojack, who was that?

Was getting caught part of your plan?

His (unknown) daughter.

Penny, the daughter of Charlotte. Penny was the girl he was about to do something with in the boat at the end of Season 2 when Charlotte walked in on them and basically read the riot act to Bojack (in understatement of the century).

EDIT:
Or not, considering I thought that was Penny at a quick glance. Went back to the end of the episode after seeing the post above from MMarston and, welp, never noticed that was a horse

His (unknown) daughter.

I guessed that from context but from who. I didn't recall if that was slipped in at some point in the season and if i missed it.

BTW, finding out Mr. Peanutebutter is
Canadian
is funny

No, they were
deers, not horses, this girl was a horse

For Season 4
How is Bojack going to screw up his relationship with his currently unknown daughter?

I'm gonna guess being waaaaaaaaaaaayyy too overprotective like she's the last fragment of hope left that she regrets contacting him in the first place?

But I think he's not gonna mess this one up. It's like his final chance and not that this show needs a happy ending, but Bojack does need one. He can't mess this up it's his last chance.

I feel like the writers are going to give him this one thing. What I'm hoping is going to happen is that
he tries to connect with his daughter but her mom/step dad are super overprotective because admittedly Bojack is a fucking screw up, and maybe at the end they connect and she's the only positive thing in his life and he attempts to reconnect with friends

, eh? Shame.

I had my suspicions last season when they never introduced a love interest for him. I'm really glad they went that direction. First time I can think of that a big show actually had a real Asexual character.

They kind of did tease it though.
They set up a possible relationship with the one-off character Mia McKibbin up and completely destroyed that prospect by the end of that episode... and now we know why.
I don't know if it was decided by then but that's when I noticed that they were definitely doing something different with him. I thought they were just playing at an immature angle but over S3 he definitely grew in a more interesting direction.

Not that interesting. But interesting nonetheless.

I hope the whole
tipping the waitress $8,000,000
thing is a joke though. Or at least not a throwaway joke. It's kind of a fucked up thing for a person to do and it seems like a springboard for future development on it's own.

I don't think they are going to even have one. Honestly, if anything,
I think the angle they are going to play here is showing how fucked up she is while he refuses to acknowledge that his lack of involvement may have played any part in it. I think he might spend all of his effort trying to avoid having a relationship with her entirely as he fails to understand how this is effecting the both of them. And then his mother is going to die.

How brutal is it that
everyone who is important to Bojack and has gotten him out of their life like Princess Carolyn, Todd and Diane are now ending up much happier or succesful
?

Episode 2 was fucking phenomenal. The ending song just made it all the better.

Fantastic season and this is probably my favorite part. It's the little bits like this that make the show so great.

Up to episode 4 and I'm not really feeling it yet. Apart from one moment they've kind of lost track of what made the show so good - BoJack's constant inability to make a decision that wouldn't turn everything to shit. It's a bit all over the place and silly so far, there's no clear tone.

Hopefully it picks up a bit. Episode 4 was pretty good, but mostly it was good in an "episode of TV" way, rather than a "BoJack Horseman" way, if that makes sense.

I had the complete opposite opinion, but to each their own. They had me in the first episode as soon as they did the finish/finished joke.

Also, as far as the music goes,
The abortion song was one of the funniest songs i've ever heard

Bojack in his present state is poisonous. Doesn't matter what Princess Caroline tried to tell him that is a fact.

God I love this show so much. If I had to say I disliked anything about this season, it'd be that the gag at the end of episode 4 didn't land for me
(come on, he was interacting with people all day. Someone would have pointed it out to him.)
and that each season is very much following the exact same template where he goes on an insane bender in episode 11 that fucks up everything, and then we get the plot hook for the next season dropped in the penultimate scene of episode 12. It was handled more smoothly than last season introducing Jill and Bojack's other show that improbably no one had mentioned up until that point, so at least it had that going for it.

This show is so amazing and despondent.

I don't know if this show will get a happy ending, I think it will end with
BoJack's funeral and everyone ragging on him
but that's my thoughts.

I don't think Todd is going to have any problems making that money back.

Ep 9:
Firing Princess Carolyn was the last straw. To me, Bojack has turned full heel and I'm actively rooting against him now. That piece of shit doesn't even deserve a bittersweet ending.

Great show.

As much as I do love episode 4, I think episode 9 is my favorite episode.

I have a very big weakness for dialogue heavy/driven narratives and this was so well directed and acted that I got me completely.

Kinda, but everybody except for Todd are set up for future tragedy. You have Diane now writing for a feminist liberal blog and her husband, whose track record with women's issues are... not the best, now potentially running as a governor. Then you have Princess Carolyn basically finding an excuse to repeat the cycle that made her alone in the first place.

I'm glad the creative staff have said that this likely won't end happily.

But it will end well. And that's pretty much it. Will Bojack be happy and finally be a decent not shit person by the end of the show? No. Probably not. Will he still have a chance to finally pull himself out and fix it if he REALLY dedicates himself? Yeah, probably, cause that's life.

I think that's a really, really great testament to the writing.
