Its interesting that people care so much about people singing live. You rarely hear a live performance that's better than the original, especially a pop performance (since it has so much production). Reminds me of this book:
Madonna's performance was easily top 5 of all time halftime shows, just the Vogue segment alone.
it is simple. We like live performances because we get to witness, in person, the actual talent the person has. Not to mention that a good live show also mixes things up too (in a positive way). If the "performance" is just a recording, I can listen to that in my room without paying 50 bucks.
