lol but then i gotta pay money to read the articles right

Not if you have an institutional subscription (which is only, I admit, another respect in which you are paying money to someone).

The bust in over-priced academic journals is coming, though. Even stupendously well-funded libraries are telling them to fuck themselves.

"Dispute" seems mild.

Even the murder-suicide yesterday was reported as a neighbor dispute. Which is strange since the news usually reports people passing away as, "Nice old grandma Joan is DEAD", that than using some grace, maybe since it is is an event that will lead to criminal charges they underplay it so they don't get accused of possibly tainting the jury pool.

True, but the fact that two people are now dead is indisputable fact.

I thought contretemps.

Vigorous exchange of opinions ?

Even if I myself had a chainsaw, my instinct on seeing someone else, angrily disposed towards me, holding one, would be to run really fucking fast.

I wonder if any ganados were involved.

edit: thats better

Once charges have been put against people it restricts what you can and can't say. So you could say.
But more important get people to keep reading. Most people, for most stories, don't read past the opening paragraph. So what are you more likely to keep reading?

"A grandmother has allegedly been murdered in her own home"
or
"Police are investigating the sudden death of an 86-year-old woman in a Brisbane residence"

That second It's not meant to sensationalise something (although that often is the case), but to make people think "holy shit what happened?"

Edit: Actually that first one isn't right either. I never have to write those stories so I'm don't really know how

HSU debacle sounds like it will get very ugly. News interview on now hinted that documents may have been attempted to be disposed of before a raid by police. Allegedly.

We;ve come a long way in union scandals. Not too many decades back and you could have substituted "witnesses" for "documents".

I'm waiting on an e-ink device with enough refresh rate to use it as a casual web browser and word processor because staring at a computer all day hurts my eyes

You know what I would love to see in Wii U/3DS: save file compatibility. For VC games especially.

I have OOT 3DS. And I would like to be able to take my save, transfer it to the wii u, and keep playing it on the big screen. The games are essentially the same, so I wonder if such a thing is technically feasible?

Or am I LTTP and Vita/PS3 is already doing it?

I'm going to see mummies and stuff at the museum today, you jelly?

Edit:? Two months, you say? I wonder if I could also head down during then. Full ausgaf meetup or something.

Well. I guess that's it.jpg
I refuse to use those. Typing anything takes hours since I keep hitting the wrong keys.

Thats not a physical keyboard, kritz.

The physical keyboard is holding my virtual keyboard at an angle so I can type easier :p

After a bit of practice I'm pretty good at this fake keyboard. Still lots of issues wit the auto correct software, and it's impossible to tell if I have made a mistake while typing because I can't feel myself making the mistakes...

But, legible, at least. Not entirely literate, but legible.

Any touch screen keyboard.

I'll be happy when they perfect voice to text.

Yeah but I can't exactly yell profanities into Irc via voice in a room filled with people working on their assignments (the assignment that I ditched everyone last night to finish because I knew the Italy's would be packed anyway.)

... Or maybe I could.

Good luck for anyone with a non-American accent. Even more luck for anyone who is an ESL speaker.

Touch screen typing is rubbish I find. Capacitive does not work reliably for anything in my experience. If only resistive could be multitouch.

Soup calibur.

Get over here!

Contemplating grabbing Mortal Kombat Vita from the US PSN store. Good idea? Bad idea? How likely is it they will block me from playing online?

Nope, laser board ftw.

Just have it overlay onto a nice soft piece of material that is still rigid enough to be tactile and I will be in heaven.

Sounds like you need an IPS monitor buddy. I can sit at my screen at home for 12 hours straight in a darkened room with my glasses on and STILL not get a headache or get too much eye strain (aside from the expect moisture deficiency you would expect from having your eyes open so wide for so long).

Transfarring, and yes. Metal Gear collection and the upcoming dungeon Diablo clone thingy.

yes :( Wanted to go see it in Melbourne but never got time/money. Love me some Egypt.

But, but steak and chips for lunch.
Prick, only had one steak all year so far. I used to have at least one a week :(

Need to find some cheap Tbone and marinate some up and talk the gf into having it with tea one night.

The new Steam beta allows you to kick off downloads remotely from a browser or the mobile app. Very nice.
Awesome, any other new changes to the app?

Seems to be random how they handle it game by game. Some seem to be fine and other titles they lock to regions. Let us know if it works though!

Have you played the game at all? Don't be ashamed - its the best single player fighting game campaign since the original Soul Calibur (and before that, Bushido Blade). As for regional PSN skullduggery, it is Sony, so dont be surprised if you get prevented from playing it somehow. Check whirpool forums perhaps? Thats another community with experience in getting around imports of digital and physical means.

Of course, VF5 is still the best fighting game this generation.

Arent those games co-developed though? What I mean is for old rom dumps (wii VC) and new versions of the game like OOT 3DS.

I can't think of anything at all besides the obvious.

This could spark a SydGAF meet outside of the board gamers. Speaking of which, you could drop-in for some gaming of the non-electronic variety while you're up.

I haven't played it on 360/PS3 because of the legal issues. This country isn't mature enough for Mortal Kombat apparently. But I have fond memories of Mortal Kombat 2 in particular, and the new game looks great.

I think I'm going to risk it and get the Vita version. I'll let you guys know how it goes. But yeesh... 3 gig... might need to get a new stick first.

I think I'm going to import a physical copy.

In related news, I love my Vita.

Hmmm maybe this would be a better way to go? The game doesn't have an online pass. But then again... would physical be riskier with customs and whatnot?

I'm happy with my Vita as well. I'm continually surprised at how good the dpad is.

Gamespot still exists?

A little bit more but it is pretty much zilch. They have much bigger fish to fry, like imported illegal fish.

Also the Komplete Edition on PS3/360 is about $30 from Zavvi and doesn't have the silly online pass either. Not sure on physical copy of the Vita version prices TBH yet.

Are you the kind of person who went to see MK Annihilation at the cinema hoping it would be good like the first film? I did.

MK has a ridiculous but somehow intriguing mythos that should be shit but isnt.

If you like that kind of thing, the new MK is going to be exactly what you need.
