i keep seeing "add pieces" but what pieces?

what piece can any of these teams add?

all it does is put together a team that is a 1st round punching bag together/2nd round joke

GMs that fear for their jobs do this. It does nothing but temporarily placate a fanbase but it doesn't even build real value for teams because those teams that opt to build that way end up having to tear down billboards every few seasons. Big names that are locked in for 5+ years are worth much, much more than a crappy playoff run.

But we're not even talking about Wall not being a franchise player and the Wizards losing themselves due to knee jerk reactions anymore.

There's no such thing as a good Pacers game.

This goes both ways though doesn't it? If the hope of blowing up this Wizards team and then tanking and getting some lottery picks. Who can they draft that will make them contenders?

You keep tearing down 1st round playoff teams and second round "playoff jokes" like the Hawks, but building a team that has a real threat to make a conference final or a final isn't easy...let alone multiple conference finals or finals. That's why I bring up "No one's beating the Heat".

The Rockets are an example of a perennial low seed playoff team that hasn't gotten anywhere and has constantly had to shuffle all or most of their pieces to try to find combinations for even a little bit of improvement. But they've never "embraced the tank" for consecutive years just to build up their team through the draft. I'm pretty sure Rockets fans are happier with how the last 4 years have gone than Wizards fans or Bobcats fans. Same story with Indiana.

Is Granger good enough to win you a chip? No, but slowly building around him has eventually led to a constant playoff team that's going to be in the playoffs for several years. They're not Reggie's Pacers, but they're not Tyreke's Kings either.

Teams that tank so hard year after year after year and then swing and miss in the draft year after year after year don't do anyone a service except their Owner's pocketbooks. Once you've got a good lottery pick you can build around, get aggressive in the trade market and constantly keep trying to improve your team and competing night in and night out to get better and build chemistry and cohesion instead of quitting 20 games into the season in hopes of winning a lottery.

If Philly gives Bynum the max, we might have to take Knux's shoelaces away.

Jumping off a bridge. Don't need shoelaces in hell.

as for the conversation (although I like to avoid paragraph battles...we don't talk about the Sixers too often), being a second round or first round fodder gets old fast. The first season you have the hope that it's the start of something great but the second yearis where you realize that this is your max. With Iggy we only made the second round once and that was off of a fluke injury...hell two because Noah would beat us alone. We maxed out.

I joke about how horrible this year is (and it is...dear god) but I know we need this year. I would love to have Bynum be real and for us to be a second tier team this year...we aren't beating the Heat sure but we would be young and actually have a chance to be grow. Hell if we hadn't of signed Brand, we probably would've had been at least Hawks good with Iggy but we fucked it up by trying to win right away instead of building a young core...this was an attempt at that...but that ship has sailed, Bynum is a dead so plan B has to be evaluating what we have and using the capspace and draft picks wisely....

what I am afraid of is that they eithe resign Bynum or go the Brand route...

Being shitty sucks, it's not fun to watch, you end up hating your team, and it is draining but being on the hamster wheel to nowhere with no hope of getting any better is worse, you can't even lie to yourself...you know how each season will end.

So once we resign Bynum I will shank a cat

You guys would of had so much depth with Harkless, Vucevic and this year's pick. If one of the GOAT franchises couldn't save Bynum then WTF does Philly think they'll able to do with him?

Klay Thompson gets an allowance.

http://blogs.thescore.com/tbj/2013/...ng-his-allowance-away-for-getting-in-a-fight/

This was the first time that Klay has ever been fined for an on court indiscretion in his NBA career and the consequences will be more noticeable to him than just the $35K fine. The 23-year-old doesn’t have access to his money, all cheques are paid to Mychal and Julie who take care of his accounts for him to make sure Klay’s financial situation is set up for his post NBA career. So, naturally, Papa Thompson’s going to teach Klay a lesson of his own by fining him personally also, however, Klay will find out the old fashioned way.

“He will [find out he's been fined by us] when he sees that cash envelope show up a little short this week,” he said.

Even though I'm all for this (seeing the shit young athletes waste money on is a pet peeve of mine), it's hard not to laugh at the guy for being an NBA player and still getting an allowance from his parents. With his own money, no less.

More from the transcript:

“I saw Klay mixed up in the beginning, tied up with George Hill,” Mychal said. “I say to myself, don’t do nothing stupid now, don’t throw a punch, don’t throw the ball at anybody.”

“Then Roy Hibbert turned his back & [Klay] was like ‘now’s my chance’!”

“I was like ‘you idiot’!”

He then went onto say that he recorded the incident to show his wife Julie who was out at the Cheesecake Factory buying Mychal Thompson some salmon for dinner. When she got home he said, “sit down & watch your dumb son”

Haha wow. Definitely something you don't usually see with professional athletes. Seems like he has some great parents. Kind of weird at 23 though. I haven't lived at home since I was 19. But that's different for every person.

Kwame said:
“[Bynum] was my young fella,” Brown said. “I taught him everything he knows.” [...]

“I’m one of the better defenders in the league and we played against each other every day in practice...I told him if you can score against me, you can score on anyone.”

Did no one give him the memo that AB was working with Kareem for years?

How is it even possible to hate this team...

:lol:lol

That was probably the best one I've seen.

It's real easy, they're corny try hards....the fad is already super old..I mean they're not even the first NBA team to do it, do you know how many NBA teams there are?
