You mean McKinnon or Wiig. Because it could be both.

I don't think there's really going to be straight up one-to-one analogs for the originals.

Wiig is the Peter V.

Look at the pic of McKinnon. she's def the odd one out akin to Egon just in a different way.

And while not 1:1. The "main" is an author, like Peter tried to be and will more than likely be the "straight man" of the group.

You have the "funny" plump one, aka Ray.

The average joe who joins later and token black character, aka Winston

And of course the odd man out scientist aka Egon.

McKinnon doesn't look to be the super logical scientist but more the wacky inventor type.

Exactly. They even have an Annie Potts. I can't see Jones pulling a Hudson, though: normal guy tossed into paranormal situation. I'd argue Winston was our anchor, not Peter.

From the plot stuff I've read, Jones plays a city worker who gets dragged into the situation. So while not "I'm looking for a job." like Winston she's still the "normal" person who joins the main cast later.

Then again internet rumors and all that.

First thing that came to mind when I saw this:

Homer enters the nuclear power plant contest-- Bold NEW Ideas!

Oh, I believe Jones has been cast as the Zeddemore, I just can't see her pulling it off. I don't find her funny and her presence is often abbrassive and irritating.

Proton pack looks cool. It's easy to imagine it being built by someone in a basement. Looks dangerous, like it should. The heart on the radioactive symbol is great.

I think it's alright for a prototype and looks inline with what I'd imagine McKinnens askew Egon would cobble together.

I mean, the original packs had that vibe too but the color here is a little oddly steampunk/toy/overly aged for my taste.

I guess I'm glad they don't look too Apple-ish or cleaned up, but still.

My main problem with this film is being realized--- they aren't willing to strikeout and explore this concept with a new tone and concept. The uniforms are the same, the logo is the same, the packs are sticking very closely the the original's design, the team is make up of at least 3 academic types and 1 everyday joe (but now they are women!), ect...

I would argue that a remake/reboot is only really nessesary if the original is no longer relatable to audiences or you can take the material to a different level-- reinvent it. I would much rather this reboot look more like the original concept-- multiple ghost catching teams traveling across time and space fighting interdimensional beings.

If they made it all super different, why even call it Ghostbusters?

Certain ideas and conventions come with using that name.

Ghostbusters is one of my favorite movies. Hell, I even like the second one (though it's not as good).

I think the reboot makes sense. The second GB movie stretched so hard to put them back in this "can anyone trust them?" position, which just felt silly to me.

I'd much prefer the shit that goes down to be the first encounter with paranormal on a definitive "holy shit, this is real" level, rather than it just being either A. another story where people don't believe them even though say, swarms of ghosts were flying around the city interacting with people, or B. ghosts are just a given, everyone knows they're real, and the Ghostbusters just happen to be a group that fights to stop/contain them.

The entire debate becomes cyclical. Why bother remaking a film in the first place, right?

No, that's not where I was going with that at all.

This is another Ghostbusters story. I'm cool with that.

I don't care if people call it a reboot or a remake or whatever.

Well, at least the pack will be easy to cosplay.

Yeah... The pack in that photo looks kind of like a last-minute glue-gun job for Halloween. Reminds me of the toys they sold for the Extreme Ghostbusters cartoon or something you'd find on eBay at the start of October (I've built proton packs before and hunting down parts has lead to some late night Googling).

Hoping some newer images of it are more flattering. I want to be excited for this movie.

Don't tell them about Dexter.

Dexter was super weird since you would occasionally see a mountain in the backdrop.

But Miami (and florida as a whole) doesn't have a single mountain in it anywhere. Miami is especially flat and at sea level.

It just felt surreal whenever that would happen lol

Wiig is the Peter V.

Not seeing it still. I don't think you're gonna have a "Venkman" mostly because Venkman was just Bill Murray, and none of these ladies have his style, nor are they well suited to aping it. Feig's going to build his characters around the people he cast, and fine-tune it once they're on set. You're not gonna get analogs, I don't think, because the interaction is going to be different. It has to be if it's gonna work. Basically - outside of very superficial similarities, I don't think you're gonna get a Venkman, a Stantz, a Zeddmore. You're going to get blends up and down the board. You'll have an Egon-ish character who gets excited like Ray did, a Zeddmore character who pops off like Peter, a Ray character who gets dry as hell like Egon, so on and so forth.

I just hope that Feig realizes that this should have ATMOSPHERE and that the first was good because it was a comedy that wasn't really shot or directed like a comedy. The humor was very sarcastic but it had a tone and plenty of horror elements. Most comedies now lack a sense of cinema. They're all sterile looking, lack cinenatography, and have a very in your face style of funny. That's why I'm usually hard to please when it comes to comedies because most of them may as well just be on a stage; who needs cameras if you're not going to use them? That isn't Ghostbusters and the more Feig realizes that the better off we'll be. This shouldn't be like Spy or Bridesmaids and that's what has me cautious, but I'm willing to see how it goes.

I'm not saying it should be just like the first one, but for the love of God have some class.

I think they can pull that off based on Spy-- the reason that movie's good is that everything is rooted in character and the action and violence level match that of any straight-faced espionage thriller. Spy specifically reminded me of an 80s style of comedy, in the same tonal ballpark as Midnight Run or BHC

I ... had no idea what to really expect from the new Proton Packs. My biggest fear was that they were going to Apple-ize them and make them these sleek, small, and slimlined high tech looking things. The OG packs are just so cool looking, so I'm glad these new ones didn't stray TOO far from the original concept. It's just, I was maybe expecting a little more, like keeping the four red cyclotron lights. At least the thrower looks the same, which is cool to see.

I need to see Spy. I saw Bridesmaids and thought it was a vapid immature comedy with no sense of style or cinematography so that's maybe why I've not had a lot of hope for this, but Feig could mold his vision and style based on what he's making.

Looking pretty cool and I'm not about to pretend like I can deride an opinion based on Melissa walking around in grass wearing the costume during or between takes without the proper vision or cinematography (hopefully) alongside it.

Hopeful but cautious. I do like how Kristen looks.

I wonder if they straight up stole those jumpsuits from McCarthy or Jones' workplace.

If everything about their enterprise is being pieced together and kitbashed because they don't really have the money ("everyone's got three mortgages nowadays") I could see their uniforms coming from the laundry room at one of their regular places of employment.

Sew a Ghostbusters logo to the side, voila.
