Ghostbusters is a great comedic take on Lovecraft, hope this version also follows in that spirit.

You mean McKinnon or Wiig. Because it could be both.
I don't think there's really going to be straight up one-to-one analogs for the originals.
Wiig is the Peter V.
Look at the pic of McKinnon. she's def the odd one out akin to Egon just in a different way.
And while not 1:1. The "main" is an author, like Peter tried to be and will more than likely be the "straight man" of the group.
You have the "funny" plump one, aka Ray.
The average joe who joins later and token black character, aka Winston
And of course the odd man out scientist aka Egon.
McKinnon doesn't look to be the super logical scientist but more the wacky inventor type.
Exactly. They even have an Annie Potts. I can't see Jones pulling a Hudson, though: normal guy tossed into paranormal situation. I'd argue Winston was our anchor, not Peter.
I shipped some costumes from LA to boston for this today.
First thing that came to mind when I saw this:
Homer enters the nuclear power plant contest-- Bold NEW Ideas!
From the plot stuff I've read, Jones plays a city worker who gets dragged into the situation. So while not "I'm looking for a job." like Winston she's still the "normal" person who joins the main cast later.
Then again internet rumors and all that.
Proton pack photos are out there.
They look pretty lousy.
I think it's alright for a prototype and looks inline with what I'd imagine McKinnens askew Egon would cobble together.
Hah, the heart in the middle of the radiation symbol.Proton pack photos are out there.

My main problem with this film is being realized--- they aren't willing to strikeout and explore this concept with a new tone and concept. The uniforms are the same, the logo is the same, the packs are sticking very closely the the original's design, the team is make up of at least 3 academic types and 1 everyday joe (but now they are women!), ect...
I would argue that a remake/reboot is only really nessesary if the original is no longer relatable to audiences or you can take the material to a different level-- reinvent it. I would much rather this reboot look more like the original concept-- multiple ghost catching teams traveling across time and space fighting interdimensional beings.
If they made it all super different, why even call it Ghostbusters?
Certain ideas and conventions come with using that name.
The entire debate becomes cyclical. Why bother remaking a film in the first place, right?
ITT people learn not all films are shot on-location
Well, at least the pack will be easy to cosplay.
Don't tell them about Dexter.

If they're prototypes, then even better.
That's why I'm usually hard to please when it comes to comedies because most of them may as well just be on a stage; who needs cameras if you're not going to use them?
Proton pack photos are out there.
They look fucking awesome!!
Wiig is the Peter V.

Damn, those look fantastic!
I just hope that Feig realizes that this should have ATMOSPHERE and that the first was good because it was a comedy that wasn't really shot or directed like a comedy. The humor was very sarcastic but it had a tone and plenty of horror elements. Most comedies now lack a sense of cinema. They're all sterile looking, lack cinenatography, and have a very in your face style of funny. That's why I'm usually hard to please when it comes to comedies because most of them may as well just be on a stage; who needs cameras if you're not going to use them? That isn't Ghostbusters and the more Feig realizes that the better off we'll be. This shouldn't be like Spy or Bridesmaids and that's what has me cautious, but I'm willing to see how it goes.
I'm not saying it should be just like the first one, but for the love of God have some class.
I think they can pull that off based on Spy-- the reason that movie's good is that everything is rooted in character and the action and violence level match that of any straight-faced espionage thriller. Spy specifically reminded me of an 80s style of comedy, in the same tonal ballpark as Midnight Run or BHC
What's with the unnecessary piping? Did Reebok design these?
