Definitely got a little nauseous playing RE4 :lollipop_anguish:
The immersive free roam modes will get you at first. My recommendation is to immediately stop playing once you feel sick. Then wait an hour or 2 and play again. It took me about a week to build up my "VR legs". Stationary or Teleport games generally won't get you sick.

Yeah I am working on it as you suggested. Im not too worried. Already feels a little better. I can do free roam sitting easy. Free roam standing made me slightly ill but it went away fast. I've played probably a total of 3-4 hrs spread out all day with breaks so I think I'll pick it up pretty quick hopefully!

1. RE4
2. Lies Beneath
3. Robo Recall
4. Contractors
5. Journey of the Gods
6. Moss
7. Ghost Giant
8. 2MD VR Football
9. Premium Bowling
10. Resist

I could go on and on. I'm not even sure that's a top ten, just some games I've been playing recently.
Some of my favorite games:
-Arizona Sunshine
-Demeo
-RE4
-Gun Club
-Fruit Ninja
-Eleven Table Tennis
-Beat Saber
-Superhot
-Ancient Dungeon
-Zombieland Headshot Fever

There's a lot more than this, like you said. That's not even including PCVR like Asgard's Wrath, FS2020, SW Squadrons, Project Cars 2, etc.

Walking mini golf is a 10/10 recommendation from me. Cheap and its fantastic. Might literally be the best mini golf game I've ever played. Every new owner should buy it. This is super chill to show off to friends and new users.

The Quest 2 is finally fairly easy to get into (wireless is necessary), but we are a few hardware revisions away from where it needs to be. The field of view, frame rate, and screen quality is so important to having a pleasant experience.

For me the quest 2 is the first one I've really felt I could get into. Not being tethered to PC is a game changer. All you need is wifi and you can draw that guardian boundary anywhere. I agree on the graphics fidelity and field of view, but I feel like that's inevitably going to come. Some day these things will be simple glasses that we wear, and in the farther future maybe they'll be contact lenses.

The guardian set up is so dang easy. And if you get near the barrier it automatically starts showing you a view of the real world through the cameras. Its been pretty sick.

Guys buy Pistol Whip as a stand-alone game, it's fun as hell (and a easy entry point for VR; it doubles as a little work-out and a great party game to bring to friends and family, so you can all be John Wick).

After that go play Alyx as soon as possible. It's the greatest gaming experience you'll ever have (until new games like it come out).

Welcome to the matrix.

Sister in-law bought me a Quest 2.... I'll eat crow, thing is amazing.
So i'm looking for tips on exactly what I have to do for/to my sister in law to upgrade from 20 dollar hardware store (as in hammers and chainsaws type hardware store) gift cards to quest 2 level gifts. I didn't get that drunk at the wedding this should be recoverable right ;)

What helped me get used to moving in RE4 was to think of myself as moving on a hover board or something similar.

You know this actually works. I did a lot better on RE4 today. Still slightly nauseous after 15 min but I was flying all over this time. Slowly getting the hang of it.
Yep, i rapidly got better once i adopted that perspective (used to get headaches). At this point i mainly picture myself having like telekenetic powers for movement. Kinda like how Magneto moves around in the X-Men movies. It makes you feel like a badass as an added bonus.

Just showed my 70 year old dad my quest 2, he loved it! Had him play pavlov shack, put him in the shooting range, and the wow moment was when I said turn around and he sees 3 racks of guns to choose from. Also had him play eleven table tennis and that’s when he asked how much does this thing cost? It was really great, VR is so good for gaming noobs because the controls are so intuitive. In case anyone wasn’t aware, you can stream the headset view to a phone or tv, and control the apps from your phone, great way to demo it with family.

My dad is the same age and i wanted to show him, but his close up vision is so bad i'm not sure that it would even work for him.

Recently tried a little hidden gem (or so I was told) called Captain Hardcore.
Very misleading title, I through It was about a sea captain or something like that, what a scam.

50 hours logged and still no boats to be seen.

Best game on oculus by far for me.. and remember I hate VR... but Vader Immortal series was a great experience and proved ( to me at least ) that VR can be more than beat saber carnival games.
I would like to see alot of old point and click games return in VR like kings quest, shadow gate, sherlock holmes.

I know its hyperbole but its closer to the matrix than i ever imagined at this point. Especially with a high end setup thats cozy to wear.
When you're free to walk inside the game world it really feels like the matrix. Can't wait to try some games in a field or something like that.

And damn I'd kill for a true Matrix game, where you can explore and get chased by agents and you then have to find the phone for the exit.

I need to rent a gym or go to the rec center when no one's playing basketball lol.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
I mean, it's cool, but that came out in 2020 (and doesn't list any update since March). I guess they reposted it for newcomers bound to visit these subs. Can't wait for Team Beef's HL2VR (PC) that's currently in dev though, should trump all current janky methods to play that via GMod or whatever.

Some of the bigger VR news circulating around/on xmas days with little exposure due to being the holidays (and the VR media being bad at their job as usual) were gathered here:

Naturally, cool new stuff like this has already been posted since then as well, VR is always moving fast...
Edit: new youtube upload instead of reddit post so it doesn't auto play.

I got one for the kid from walmart 199 refurbished deal.

Holds all those carnival games easy on the 64 gig. Now with my mixed reality set, i can play recroom with him.
got his grandparents in too with a the same refurbished headset as they liked mine when I took my shutttle pc with me to show them pcvr.

first day though I ended up signing in as a developer so i can toggle that on in the phone app
as long as they keep it sort of open source, it will do great.

walkabout mini golf is a surprise hit,
I guess I missed that on steam

Im not a vision expert, but i believe the purpose of the lenses is to make the screen focus to infinity, so as long as he has good long distance vision he could enjoy it, can glasses people confirm?

For what it's worth, I wear glasses for distance, but I am starting to have issues with short distance - due to age I guess. I take my glasses off with the Quest, and after adjusting to the middle distance setting on the lenses, it's sharp as a tack.
I also found after buying a beefier strap off amazon that I am really able to dial it into perfection within a few seconds - no glasses needed either way.

The focal distance on Quests are 2m if I recall and it’s fixed. So anything over or under that optimal focal distance is gonna look odd a bit.

This is the reason Oculus is R&D’ing on adjustable focal lenses such as their Dome 3 demo, which is a must see by the way, really cool tech. If Quest 3 even has something similar, I’m ditching Quest 2 on day 1 lol.

Fanatical is running a $15 Quest VR Bundle with the standalone Quest 2 versions. Not sure if these are crossbuy/play anywhere, but I did successfully redeem them all to Quest 2.

You get:
-Zombieland Headshot Fever($20, 4.5/5 rating)
-SculptrVR($20, 4.5/5 rating)
-Accounting+($12, 4.4/5 rating)
-Gadgeteer($15, 4.6/5 rating)

-Death Lap($20, 3.8/5 rating)
-Ghost Giant($25, 4.2/5 rating)
-Gloomy Eyes($8, 4.1/5 rating)
-Skyworld: Kingdom Brawl($10, 4.1/5 rating)
-60% off($15 off) coupon for Zero Caliber: Reloaded($25, 4.4/5 rating)

I'm mostly interested in the bolded games and the coupon, but I don't mind having the other games to try out. Zero Caliber: Reloaded comes out to $10 after the coupon. Pretty good batch of Quest 2 games for only $15($25 including Zero Caliber: Reloaded).
New quest users shouldn't miss this.

Just played some Zombieland and it's really fun trying to beat the levels faster or trying to find specific items.
Also I already have Zero Caliber on PC, but right now the Quest version is actually way better. Sure, graphics are a bit downgraded, but I actually think not thaaat much. Looks way sharper also for some reason :goog_unsure:
Lets you crouch with a button which is good if you like to play seated or if you can't stand & crouch for some reason. Also lets you punch enemies in the face with your guns. Nicer tutorial too. And overall it feels more polished. Devs said it's all coming to PC but so far... nothing.

Accounting is fun... if you like Rick & Morty humor 🙈

My Son has one of these for Xmas off me and I'm impressed. Medal of Honour and Pavolv ( I think it's called) have impressed me with how you have to aim with the guns. Reloading can be a bit tricky at first as just used to pressing a button. I'll get Res 4 when it goes on sale.

I think it is for most people. Demoing VR to hundreds of people proved the mind blown is basically 100% across the board to me. Only on forums is everything 'meh.'
The week I got my PSVR I showed my brother and his wife. They couldn't stop talking about it! My wife shit herself playing that Kitchen demo and I had a blast from day 1. Getting the Oculus Quest 2 was a no brainer and I love it. Resi 4 in VR is a complete revelation for me. Was my fav game beforehand and this has shown me the game in a completely different way.
Games like Astrobot on PSVR show how to do platformers well in the VR space. Given the time and budgets I can see VR gaming really taking off. Surprises me that with all of their forward thinking why Microsoft seem so hesitant in jumping into VR. Oculus Quest 2 has sold more than the Series S/X consoles (I believe) so it can't be due to it being a niche product and, they seem determined to get their games in as much hands as possible so skipping 10 million people is a huge loss...

Either way VR is the future and I'm looking forward to seeing what devs produce from here on out.
