Wow, Treasure Island Z looks hot. Please Please Please actually be an adventure, explorative game, not some anime dragon's lair like game with limited control.

DS | SD Gundam G Generation Cross Drive
Bandai Namco / SRPG

Glad to hear about this new Gundam G-Generation game, the last DS G-Gen game was pretty short, especially compared to the PSP-version that was jam packed. But the pen-touch in the last DS version was a great addition especially when navigating maps. Big hopes for this one.

It's just Musou Orochi, but this photo shows a sexy new character. Orochi Erotica is not the name of the game, silly.

That character is suppose to be Dakki(妲己) from Hoshin-engi (封神演義), originally from Chinese lore and now a pretty popular character in a variety of manga and anime, and always depicted erotically in other media. I guess they are taking Chinese mythical figures and not just Japanese mythical figures (Orochi), which is cool and opens up a lot of possibilities for this game.

That's got to be the shittiest design for a pirate I've ever seen.

No, seriously.
I take it you've never seen One Piece.

I'm skeptical of this new game... I'm gonna wait until we've seen more of it.

True that.

I'm personally hoping that FuXi, NuWa and Susano (with the Kusanagi being his last weapon) all are at least remote possibilities of characters to get in this game, and that they're all playable, as well.

Some other info worth mentioning (courtesy of GameFAQs posters):

> Orochi is playable.
> Less story telling, few event.
> Fewer maps.
> Difficulty is slightly higher than DW and SW series.

While less storytelling is something I expected (no real history to base off of would imply less for Omega Force to remake into their games), fewer maps does disappoint me a bit.

But hey, higher difficulty is fine, too. Hopefully, this game will be able to at least supply a lot in the way of replay value...

HAWT DS games in the new Famitsu:

THE Driving School
THE Crime Scene Investigator 2
How To Write & Speak Beautiful Japanese
Train Your Brain Power With Numbers
Koenji Girls' Soccer 2
Killing Kung Fu Kanji Dragon
Juushinden (dunno, sounds like it could be a real game ("Beast God Legend")
Chuukana Janshi Tenho Painyan (moeporn mahjong)

I love the state of DS software in Japan right now. It's simultaneously fascinating and grotesque, like murder scene photos.

Dude, are you actually Nick Rox? Nice screen name either way. :lol

It looks like the Sega Ages titles Galaxy Force 2, Phantasy Star Collection and Virtua On have all been delayed to Summer instead of Spring. :(

The longer the name, the more it will sell.

You're out of your mind if you think any One Piece pirate looks as bad as that.

Series include: 1st, Z, ZZ, CCA, 0080, F91, 0083 Stardust Memory, V, G, W, 08th MS Team, X, Turn-A, SEED and SEED-D.

Over 500 characters and 300 mechs, in 120 stage, this is the biggest G-Generation yet!

Yes, this TOTALLY evokes thoughts of pirates.

A cola-powered cyborg who struts about in Hawaiian shirts and a speedo> whatever the Island Adventure Z pirate is supposed to be.

I think you missed the point here... I was responding that this design was the worst design for a pirate. Franky is the better-designed character, no denying it... but there's nothing "pirate" about him, except when used in context of a show explicitly about pirates (same goes for Sanji, in the Madison Avenue suit... on a boat in the ocean). The character design for the game on display here at least looks sort of like a pirate, what with the hat and stuff... fugly as sin, but it's a fugly-as-sin pirate. Yes, it's semantics, but I was responding in the context of the post I quoted. I apologize if it gave you a faneurism.

Oh, well, if he's talking about looking piratey and all that... point conceded.

Back to wondering if that game is actually going to be good, shall we?

And it still got review scores of 9,8,8,8? I thought Famitsu was the EGM of Japan, not the Gamepro of Japan. Or maybe they just added up the scores that each game would have gotten seperately.

You have been seriously mis-informed. 9888 means they know it's a big fan game that many people will buy, so they give it this score to make those people happy. They probably declared the score before even playing it for their usual 10 minutes.

That's great to have nearly all MS of main series, hopefully we will get MSV for 1st and Seed as well.

But from the screenshots, it means we won't have original story in the game then...... :( The last one was decent (esp starting story in Zeon side :))

That's me!

I love the Famitsu graffiti guy each week. He never fails to amuse. I had to look up what a "helminth" was -- apparently it's a parasitic worm.

What was that robot-building game Cap made for the GCN? Treasure Island Z reminds me of that.

Gotcha force? awesome game just wish it wasn't so long to collect all the different types of borgs.

It's interesting that the last few weeks of Japanese magazine news have been so barren of PS3 and 360 news.

I mean, is it reflective of the current 'meh' attitude Japan as a whole has to 'next gen' or is it something else?

If I were a PS3 (and to a lesser 360) owner and so many of these Japanese gaming mags were being so quiet with news/rumours of any upcoming PS3 games, I'd be worried. I mean, the machine's out already, what are they waiting for?

Well I don't know about PS3 but Famitsu 360 monthly editor is promising some new announcements (this time for like totally real) for the next issue so there'll be hopefully something next week or week after that.

That was my point really... we have two brand new IPs announced by major Japanese devs for the Wii; we know very little about them right now; but somehow they are not interesting!

You know, it's a massive shame that Wii supply is so slow, because it would be absolutely hilarious to see the Sony fans' reactions if Wii were allowed to sell at full pelt.

interesting as in new IPs...the koei IP announced for wii looks pretty terrible....but I dont like koei or musou really

Anyway, I think Japanese ps3 news has been garbage recently...sony need to buck up...the 360 has had way more stuff recently from Japan

I'm really interested to see what SEEDS decide to do, whether they sign with a publisher or a first party deal.

Despite all the whispers that Shane heard on the last 1up Yours and all that nonsense with the 360 controller being in the background of one shot on the website, do we actually have any news on SEEDS at all?

In a way I expected Sony Japan to sign SEEDS to some kind of deal, but given that they have such a huge Japanese development operation already, perhaps they could invest that money elsewhere.

But as Shane said, MS would probably be just as likely a destination as anywhere else.

What I (still) really want to know, is what the f*ck is CELLIUS and what the hell do they do?

Suicide rates would be up in the US and Japan.

Suicide rates would be up in Europe later this month.

:p
I kid.

Hasn't it been revealed already? Make games and applications which take advantage of CELL, this probably means that the games are most likely second party for Sony.

I agree with you. I think that the deal will be for a PS3 development studio.

But considering all the smoke and mirrors that surrounded the initial press release of CELLIUS (some outlets reporting thet they weren't making PS3 games at all) I still don't think that anyone really knows 100% for sure.

We'll have a better idea before the year is out I'm sure, maybe at E3, but certainly TGS.

I dunno, I highly doubt that Sony would even bother with this partnership if it didn't concern PS3 games.

Assuming that PS3 games are in production, I wonder if Sony will also try to keep some of Namco only IP's to Sony's consoles such as Ace Combat and Tekken. I mean, it's possible.

Wow, absolutely perfect. :D Looks to be the best G-gen game ever. And a HUGE improvement over the original DS version which only had paltry 30 stages;including the 6 Secion X stages (The PSP version had around 70 stages IIRC).

Also the the touch-screen drag&drop and zoom features look to be a big feature. The factory system also seems to be much improved. I'm actually incredibly impressed that Namco Bandai put this much work into a G-Gen game they know is guaranteed to sell.
