I hear it's great, but at least I can play the original iteration on an NA PS1 (I loved it). I'd rather see a compilation of unreleased games (I hear there are a couple good ones on the Japanese PSP and DS (but also a very bad one, if I recall correctly)).

I've played ToS1 like 14-15 times and ToS2 twice I think so I can't say I'm interested. I've had my fill of ToS unless they make a third game.

I asked him if after the sales of Xillia 2 didn't reach expectations he was still interested in sequels and he said the were interested in second and third parts of several games, that there were some stories that had to be told in several games.

If they have a part 3 I'd like there it to be a prequel where you play as Kratos, Martel and Mithos. Maybe the Symphonia 1 characters go through time to help at certain parts or whatever, but core gameplay would be the playing out of the 'Great hero Mithos, and Goddess Martel' story along with perhaps the rise of Derris Karlon at the very end.

I saw the GC version selling for 980 yen back when I was in Tokyo. Was tempted to pick up a second copy at that price.

Uh. No. Eternia is one of the best. It also has one of the best summon systems in the series still. (Use water magic a lot? You get to summon Undine!)

Maybe you're thinking of Tempest.

Personally, I liked Eternia a lot. The battles are simple, but still fast and fun. And Meredy is adorable. I like it more than Abyss, even.

I don't know what the consensus on Tales games is, but I enjoyed that one a lot. That being said, I played only the first three and really enjoyed them, though I own Symphonia, Legendia and Abyss as well.

Well it was really the first modern Tales game, Destiny and Phantasia still feel a lot like Star Ocean since they're sister series. Eternia is where Tales found its identity. I like how simple it is.

You mean Semi-Auto mode? You have to find an item (pretty early in the game) to unlock Manual mode.

Hopefully it's true. Symphonia was one of my favorite Tales (Destiny PS2 still reigns number 1 for me).

Yes I know, Ufotable is better and they did a great job with both Xillias, they do better effects, coloring and overall better animation than what Production I.G did with the las few Tales games they worked on. But, I literally hate how they adapt Inomata and Fujishima's designs to their style, specially Fujishima's.

It's really more of a 1.5. >_> It's like complaining Chain of Memories wasn't fully fledged like KH1 was. (Finally found a decent gaming analogy)


I actually really like ufotable's art style, and the benefits of having the anime cutscenes in-game not look like total shit is nice. Especially with the newer Tales engines looking better than Production IG's work at times, it makes me wonder why they even bother if the animed cutscenes don't look as good as the in-game ones.

You could hold square to keep yourself to stay in place, or like someone else said, Manual Mode item.

Manual actually makes the game really easy on Normal difficulty, especially since it makes avoiding spells like Spread a breeze and tons of fun.

I do wonder why they bother keeping Semi-Auto mode in, it's a leftover from the Star Ocean days. At least they give you Manual mode from the start in most of the Tales games lately (except Graces, wtf)
