growing a pair and saying enough god damn you. That shit spoke to me. Because he knows there's a good person, somewhere, that everybody can see in Bojack, but he's done with the self pity party crap. He's done enabling. Like he said he just needs to "be better".
I'v had that conversation in real life more times than I'd like. So that shit spoke to me on a spiritual level.
Firing Princess Carolyn was the last straw. To me, Bojack has turned full heel and I'm actively rooting against him now. That piece of shit doesn't even deserve a bittersweet ending.
Does anyone know how I can get the Season 1-2 recap to play? I've started Season 3 but it isn't playing the recap video and I could really use a refresher.
Thanks!

she supported him for years through his awful habits and being a drain on her resources before she finally helped him achieve the relevancy that even gave him those movie options. This was really the most heart breaking episode to me, the one relationship Bojack needs the most.

I still don't really understand why he took such a hard line about PC. It really pissed me off what he did to her. In fact I just can't root for Bojack anymore. I used too but now he is too far gone. Basically killing Sarah Lynn is the last straw for me. I'm not sure how I am going to handle season 4 now :/
im glad they addressed Todd's sexuality the way they did. I have to say I relate very much with him on that subject and it's nice to see it addressed as a serious topic on mainstream media.

I think it was because it was the first time in his life he needed her to do her job well and she fucked it up big time. As a friend, it's a real shitty thing to do. As an agent, he was right in dropping her. I think PC's biggest problem here and why it was shitty for Bojack to drop her was because she was a friend/lover first, then his agent. She made no money off of Bojack for almost the entire time she knew him, but she cared enough for him and about him to stick it out.
With Sarah tho...he fucked up long ago and never went about fixing any of the mistakes he made when he had a chance. Sarah Lynn was doomed to die young from the time she met Bojack as a little girl. And he knows it. That's why he bailed on the new show. He knew he fucked up with Sarah Lynn and he knew he'd fuck up another innocent girl like the new co-start and Penny and more than likely, his own daughter.
So him stopping in the middle of nowhere to watch the mustangs, I'm assuming, running free and all that is going to be Bojack placing his hope at being a better person in something he just jumps into because it looks fulfilling and powerful from afar? I can totally see him getting really into it and maybe taking living in the plains seriously only to really fuck it up when he gets a whiff of something better and forgets everything he learned, again.

sarah lynn was fucked without bojack though. she was preyed on by everyone in her life. he should have done something but he was so far up his own ass to notice.
I think the expectations of the industry helped contribute to Bojacks back slide this season more than anything.
Once Bojack becomes famous for something "real" like Secretariat, he was expected by everyone to shit all over the one thing from his past he was proud of (Horsin Atound), which ironically was more real than the role he is currently being lauded for. His impression that his past is now shit and that he should just keep looking forward really fucks him up when the one thing he's supposed to be gunning for doesn't even come through.
I don't see any scenario where Bojack returns to Hollywoo with any sort of happiness. The industry just reinforces his confidence issues and bad habits too much, and other broken people are drawn to his pity as an enabling force.

Not sure how their relationship now is, it looked for me like they still want to be friends at the end of the episode but not in the one where Sarah Lynn died.

I think he could have affected some change in her life by actually being a role model instead of taking his parent's words to heart for so many years. The 2007 clip as well drives home he dropped all contact with her and only showed up to get her help. I really think the big difference between Sarah Lynn living or dying is based around her relationship with Bojack.
She even said it herself in the finale. She didn't have any friends or anyone to relate to and was on the verge of cracking in 2007. Bojack shows up to use her as a prop for his show and the last person she thought she might relate to does what everyone else already did.
All of that said, I have absolutely no clue where things will go from here in Season 4
Oh yeah, like someone mentioned, I like that the end theme lyrics change from the events in episode 2. And I always love the opening change when something happens in the story like when he loses touch with people or something major happens in his house. lol. Really great stuff.

i dont think that he dropped all contact with her on purpose. its just that unlike the rest of the cast(including bojack himself) she became a star and was harder to keep contact with. the dissapointment with bojack might have been major, but like with most characters on the show bojack wasnt the only guiding her choices, her mother putting acting above all else in order to make money above her happiness, the various leeches, and yes men that enabled her to get strung out. bojack was the straw that broke the camels back, but there were hay bales there before he got to her
Not through the season just yet, but man, does this show accurately portray depression. I can't think of any other form of media where it's this on the nose about how it feels to have really bad depression.
I want the "It's MR. Peanutbutter!" ringtone as my actual ringtone. it's so good!
And I will never not laugh at "Hollywoo Stars and Celebrities! What do they know? Do they know things? Let's find out!". Especially not when people say it like 4 times in one conversation.

Just finished Episode 10. Did not expect to be binge watching this today but my bike is out for repairs and its brutal hot out so I don't feel like going out. Gotta say this season is really good so far. Also good on Todd after Episode 10. I usually can't stand him but
he laid down the law and told it like it was at the end of Ep. 10
I really thought the money would lead him to interesting misadventures and now he is already back to status quo. He'll still have odd adventures but I was really hoping that something else would make him blow through the money and it would take longer than it did.
I started last night but only got through Episode 4 because my internet was being super flaky and would cut out multiple times per episode, but man "Fish Out of Water" was amazing. It felt like a lost Futurama episode.

Finished the season. Some (completely disorganized) thoughts:
-Did anyone else feel like there was a real lack of Todd in this season? I mean, he was there, and the episodes he had were good, but it felt like there was much less of a focus on him this time around. Maybe Aaron Paul was busy with other things? Also speaking of Todd, is this the first show to directly address asexuality as a thing?
-Did anyone else think they were going to kill off Mr. Peanutbutter's brother and have him and Diane adopt his niece and nephew?
-The end of Episode 11 was a real punch to the gut. It was then that I realized that not only was it getting harder to like Bojack as a character, it's actually getting harder for me to not hate him as a character. He really is an awful person and I'm not sure the people who know him are better off in any way for it. And maybe that's the point, but it's getting harder and harder to see how he might ever get redemption. Like in the first two seasons it seemed like it might be a possibility, but now? I mean he's pretty much directly responsible for Sarah Lynn's death. And sure, it's easy to say that she would have inevitably gone back to drinking and drugs on her own, but would she? Clearly we can never know, of course, but when it all comes down to it, it's Bojack's fault.
The fact he broke down when he realised he couldn't destroy another child and got himself out of the situation is one of the few redeeming things Bojack did all season.
The last scene is basically the opening intro. However, this time there's no one there. Just Bojack and the remains of his oscar nominee party. Falls backwards into pool. However, this time, no one's there to save him. Cut to black.
Thought his anxiety panics of feeling like he's drowning and Ana's lifeguard story were alluding that Bojack was going to drown literally. That doubled with him pushing away everyone in his life and the emptiness of the house in the opening later on also hinted at this.
Someone could end up saving him if you need a season 4.

Pretty sure he did do it on purpose. The theme of the show seems to be that every main character in it is damaged in some way. With Bojack, PC, and Diane it's pretty clear that they have something wrong with them. With Todd, it's also as clear -- him living the lifestyle that he does has to come from something that keeps him from enjoying his success and sabotaging himself every chance he gets. He didn't want the money, or at least, he couldn't bring himself to keep it, for whatever reason. At least that's my take on it.
and I'm sure she'll be there next season but I still thought he'd be doing stuff with what he earned instead of kind of bumming off another person. But since I like her character, I guess this is better since it will keep her around.

Done now. As I posted before, it starts pretty slowly and doesn't really feel like BoJack but by the end yeah, it's really fucking there. Brilliant, overall.
If I had one criticism (major ep12 spoiler)
it'd be that the "Sarah Lynn is dead?!" gag really kills the impact when it acually happens.
They're both great moments but they don't exist together very well, one of them really needed to be cut/rewritten.

The thing is, I think what happened in Ep.8 had a lot more far reaching effects than people think. Kelsey had him feeling really optimistic, he could actually redeem himself in the eyes of someone he screwed over. I think he had a lot riding on Kelsey's movie, emotionally speaking. I think everything after ep.8 was a downward spiral of self-hatred, triggered by what PC did.
And to me, the thing with Caroline wasn't entirely him being angry with her. I think he was driving her away because of his acknowledgment that he is a broken person, who hurts everyone close to him. And since PC is the closest friend he has, I think he thought that she didn't deserve his poison in her life.
I'm still going through the season, so I'm not in the "brutal" part, but was that a Ridley decal on the 3DS in Episode 5?! Glad to see he's getting love somewhere!
