you may also be the only one not to realize I said that in jest

The east/west thing is a friendly rivalry. Any rational person knows each offers its own unique experience that there is no way to replicate other places so one can't be better than the other

Alright, then.

Just wanted to jump in and say I had a good time with great people. Next up; the LA-GAF E3 drink-a-thon!

Now back to my self-imposed internet ban until I finish ME3...

I'm not sure if it was haggling or just pure intentional drunken asshole. I think someone almost said not nice things to that girl.

What's the story behind this? An almost fight and bacon-wrapped hotdog fail?

Well if its a beach BBQ I suppose you guys will need a cook.

^THIS. This man knows things. Things about cooking. (I lurk on the cooking food porn thread quite a bit...)

I can hide champagne bottles in the sand and have you guys look for them.

btw, great pics. looks like fun :)

I like games! Games with alcohol!

Surely we have to have an earlier one as well? Poly and I were debating the merits of a UFC get together. I'll be out of LA sometime in April, but during the latter half, so the 14th match-up may still work.

Those on the westside and in the valley will probably hate this, but there's an event downtownish that I would like to invite everyone to.

My loft community The Brewery (the world's largest arts colony) is having it's twice-annual Artwalk on March 31st and April 1st. It's in the old Pabst Blue Ribbon brewery. A hundred or so of us are opening our lofts to the public, so you can look at art and badass living spaces. Art is 50% off since we're showing in our own galleries. My wife is showing her paintings and digital art. She likes Star Wars, sci-fi, toys, comics, wizards, and monsters.

There's also a bar! It has some of the finest craft brews in the world on tap. There's also a beer and food tent.

This is a daytime event! However, the parties start when the Artwalk closes (at 6). This is the original Artwalk. This fall marks our 30th anniversary.

Yes, we know the website is terrible. It's getting re-vamped.

What's the story behind this? An almost fight and bacon-wrapped hotdog fail?

Once upon an evening not too long ago in the mean streets of Downtown LA, a group of GAFfers in various stages of inebriation were waiting for their order of dirty dogs. While waiting, someone from this group engaged in drunken banter with the cart vendor concerning the possibility that his delectably smelling goods were overpriced and attempted to negotiate a price decrease in jest. This apparently did not sit well with the preppy, who decided to mock said banter and antagonize our hero. They and some random skaters then engaged in civil discourse about such interesting topics as "Who would win in a fight?" and "Why doesn't the vendor have any change?" Eventually the preppy's girlfriend, who had been staying silent the entire time, had enough and tried to put an end to the proceedings. But before not nice things could be said to her, the vendor saved the evening by providing the remaining parties with dirty dogs. Everyone dispersed and all was well in the streets of LA, until the cops were nearby and all the cart vendors sprinted out of view into the night. The end.

Drinking and fighting go oh so well together. GAF Battle Royale?

That's near me. I just might have to check it out.

Our bacon wrapped hot dog journey was quite civil.

Are you kidding? I was out at Point Dume just yesterday? Which glorious house/apt is yours? Do you go to/work at Pepperdine?

It's a 2 bed apartment that's part of a triplex. It's not one of those crazy Bally McBaller mansions but I think it's great and the view just kills. I move in on the 7th. I work in Thousand Oaks. It'll be a grat spot for entertaining, I do hope to have some LA GAF over to enjoy a day at the beach.

The person in this story may or may not have been me. I cannot confirm nor deny.

Memorial Day Weekend? May 26-27-28.

Or.. you might have real friends over that weekend/other plans/the beach will be super crowded anyway.

I can also recommend May 13/14, June 9/10, June 16/17 (because I'll be in LA those weekends).

cool artwalk stuff

That does look pretty awesome. I think I might have some plans for that weekend already, but I do so love this kind of thing...

It IS in the baller area, though. ^_^ I can definitely see a Gaf beach thing in the future. We might want to wait for warmer weather, though, to fully take advantage of your sweet location.

Break out the wedding dress H Pro.

Another member of virgin-gaf confirmed? ;P

I saw everything

^Sorry, Seth. Looks like you left some witnesses alive.

I'm pretty glad the whole RP movement kickstarted all of these hangouts, I can't wait for the eventual "crossover" event.

Hm. Sounds like a cool truck. Wait a second....*clicks*

You have all been eating New York hot dogs this entire time. You are already dead.

Randomly clicked into this thread and saw a picture and recognized your face from the old N-Philes forums and then recognized your username. Aren't you sort of into Pokemon? For some reason never knew you were in LA though. Videogame message boards are a small world I guess.

Aint no sort of into pokemon, ask the few and proud who had to listen to me spew about it for a somewhat funny, always sad good 10 mins. What was your n-philes name?? I'm still on there too. Just can't seem to quit.

Rocksteady. But, yeah, I meant more in that you play all the games, but I never really remembered you as a diehard EV trainer or anything like that (could be wrong though). I definitely would have chatted it up with you though. Pokemon and shots -- never had that in the real world before.

Rocksteady! Holy shit, yes I remember you! And yes I have EV trained/ IV breed for more times than I like to count, ha.

Are you in LA, too? That would be a damn small world.
