I told myself before the year started that I wouldn't care so much about college football this year. Since my daughter is 2 now, I have some perspective on what's really important, right? Fuck no. I think about the Hurricanes season and all the close calls multiple times every fucking day.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
GAF do you think CFB games are too long?

Here is a USA Today article from last month

USA Today

College football games are long (3:25) and getting longer – eight minutes longer across FBS on average than four years ago. (Oklahoma State games this season, for instance, average 4:13, according to NCAA stats.) Should there be adjustments to the rules to shorten games? If so, what?

PS: You podcast doges could use this as a podcast topix!

LSU is planning a search committee for their next head coach. Top of the list is Jimbo Fisher but coach O is still in play. They also want an "offensive guru" for offensive coordinator.

Sounds like they want to have someone lined up possibly by this weekend.

Source: Texas players threaten boycott of TCU game

Amidst the swirl of speculation about Charlie Strong’s future and reports that the Texas head football coach would be fired this week, several Longhorn players are considering boycotting this week’s regular-season finale against TCU, according to a source close to the Texas football program. Upperclassmen on the team are intervening and trying to calm the waters according to the source.

“Some of the team is threatening to boycott the TCU game,” the source said. “Older players are trying to settle things down.”

That would be the second week in a row Texas players have decided to sit it out.
Damn Randy..

Herbie and Fowler are calling the OSU/UM game instead of the usual 8pm game.

Also the final 90 minutes of gameday will take place inside the stadium.
Wish Musburger were calling it.. I miss him and Herbie calling the games :(

I'd like to hear them at least one more time together..

There is an easy way to help fix college game length. Get rid of the clock stopping on first downs. I never really understood why that rule came into effect in the first place.

Hold on, lets get our weekly check in.

So you're telling me this thing accurately predicted 5 out of the current top 10 teams? Almost 6, with USC sitting at 12. That's not too shabby.

most of us could predict at least 5 of the current top 10, but it missed pretty bad on handful of these.

Boy it sounds like Texas is really fucking up this Charlie Strong situation.
They really should make it official now. If they beat TCU and Strong gets hoisted off the field by his players Les Miles style, it's going to make firing him after that emotional win tougher fir everyone involved.

The way this had been handled, we may be needing a new president and AD to boot

Golden Domers are chickenshit!!

Well, in comparison, the AP preseason poll had FSU, LSU, Stanford, Tennessee and Notre Dame all in the top-10. FPI didn't do so poorly, in retrospect.

Problem with CFB in general this year is there are no great teams.

Winston FSU, Newton Burn, Tebow Gata, Bama 11/12 ect... CFB doesn't have this year.

Even the top teams like Clemson, Bama, and OSU were better in past few years than this year.

I'm trying not to put the cart before the horse here, but as a lifelong Bama fan, I feel this year's team is the best we've had under Saban, if not ever. A lot of our inconsistencies on offense are a direct result of us starting a true freshman at QB, but when he's clicking as a runner and a passer, we're extremely dangerous. Hell, we're tough to stop even when he's just running effectively. Our defense is definitely the best we've had, especially since the spread has been adopted throughout CFB.

Of course, the team needs to win it all to really have a claim to being one of the best squads ever, but this is pretty much what you get when you have 5 or 6 consecutive #1 recruiting classes.

If FSU wins out we will probably end up finishing in the top ten.

AP also doesnt parrot their "predictive rating" as the end all be all.

What im getting at is the FPI is a shit metric that ESPN should stop using for everything.

Sorry lifelong bama positions are full, please select another team.

Yeah, I think he has to pick Auburn.

Perfectchaos, think you're right. Texas is going to win this with their players rallying around Strong on TV and then we're going to see him get fired, officially. Going to be a disaster. I can't wait to see the awkwardness as they're turned down by Herman because he doesn't want any part of the nonsense that is their athletic department and big money boosters.

Can any of you guys view GAF from your desktop? I can't and I hate mobile. Tried the https URL and it didn't work either

FOH, I'm from Mobile 😂 I endured the Dubose, Franchione, and Shula years while listening to my parents and uncles brag about the glory days with Bryant.

I WILL NOT BE DENIED.

So you're a South Alabama Jaguar fan. They had a win over a top 25 team this year. That's your team

It good to have an Auburn fan around here, most of ours are gone. Welcome war tiger eagle friend.

It is still absolutely hilarious to me that so many people were so high on LSU prior to the start of the season. Cam Cameron was still the OC lmfao
