Best in a long, long time. Prince Half Time show was epic, but epic like a Prince concert. Madonna's was a great show. Just glad they broke the curse... Springsteen, the Who, Tom Petty, BEP, Stones, even McCartney were average at best (and really, save McCartney, utter crap).
I'm not even a fan of Madge, but that was well done.

Did people really like that abomination of a performance last night? Bad lip singing and overblown choreography.
I'm not a fan of this particular kind of music, but why wouldn't the NFL just get Lady Gaga to do the show. She's current, has a lot of hit songs, and would actually sing and put on a good performance. I know why they picked Madonna though, I think all the half time performers since the Justin/Janet fiasco have been 50-60+ years old. Stones, McCartney, The Who, Tommy Petty, Springsteen. I think the NFL is out of touch, most of the bands and acts they have been selecting in the last decade haven't been relevant for 20-30 years.
Madonna still could get it tho.

Maybe because they didn't want Gaga? I'd only care if Gaga actually performed her better songs from her first album(s) over that second thing she released. But I know that's what she would do. Besides, I'd rather watch someone who doesn't like they're trying to outdo themselves each public showing.
You are doing a live performance to the largest audience of any other event in the world. I'm pretty sure Madonna "unplugged" would not have gone over too well.
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it, I haven't really listened to Madonna since high school.

Contrary to popular belief, she rarely mimes on tour. I think it was just the setting and circumstance, but Like A Prayer didn't sound mimed at all.

She pulled a hamstring muscle and hurt her nose during rehearsals. People keep saying she looks stiff and fragile because of her age haven't been keeping up with her tour performances even from 2 years ago.

During my Confessions and Sticky and Sweet Tour dates she NEVER lip synched. But whatever she ain't got shit to prove to anyone because she's the fucking Queen. All the crying idiots who stay complaining that the Queen lip synched stay mad gurls, cause she snatched your crusty $2 lace fronts from Target and tossed it in the trash where they will remain the rest of their existence.
The halftime show was awful. They need to get rid of anybody who decides that they're going to lip sync their performances. It's so stupid and in stark contrast to the event itself. You don't have guys out there pretending to play football.
Not only that, the random injection of LMFAO to sing a couple of lines from their overplayed garbage and Cee Lo Green showing up looking like Darth Sparkles was just all too much.
Bring back the rock and roll acts for the Super Bowl. At least they're out there performing their music and not just playing Dance Central.

I think it makes sense that they chose Madonna over Gaga for the halftime show.
People gotta remember, the Super Bowl appeals to more than just the pop tweens of today. It's the most watched television event in the US for all age groups. Gaga just doesn't have that appeal yet. Not a lot of young artists do. Older artists, on the other hand, can appeal to the younger set due to their legacy while also appealing to the older crowd who grew up with them. I love when they have older acts perform. Even if I'm not checking for them,I appreciate it as a big ol' slice of Americana. Just makes you feel good.
When you think about it, the Super Bowl Halftime Show is without a doubt the largest stage an artist can perform on in the US. A packed stadium of thousands, the entire country watching. That stage really should be treated more like the tremendous honor that it is (which is why I was pissed as hell that the BEP the got the honor last year).
Madonna deserved to perform. Gaga doesn't...yet.

Honestly I was expecting Express Yourself to be in the performance somehwhere. Show still slayed of course, but just the thought of it
Little Monsters everywhere would've been institutionalised.
But most performers lip sync at the Super Bowl. Even seminal performances like Whitney's Star Spangled Banner or Michael Jackson's 1993 halftime performance were lipped. It's pretty par for the course.
None of the rock acts fake it.
