RUMOR: Tales of Symphonia HD Remaster Collection coming to PS3?

Day one buy.

Where the hell is my DQVIII HD (on disc) for PS3, SE?! If that company had half a brain, we'd be getting a FFX + DQVIII HD collection, and not FFX-2.

I'd rather have them port DQVIII on 3DS. After they localize DQVII of course. Wtf SE, localize your damn games!

Wait, Eternia is considered one of the best? That's the one that got released on the PSP in EU right? Granted I never got very far in it, even with the voices off but...how!?

Manual actually makes the game really easy on Normal difficulty, especially since it makes avoiding spells like Spread a breeze and tons of fun. :)

I do wonder why they bother keeping Semi-Auto mode in, it's a leftover from the Star Ocean days. At least they give you Manual mode from the start in most of the Tales games lately (except Graces, wtf)

Semi-Auto does have its advantages. It does help with positioning yourself and it is pretty easy to switch between control styles in the newer games now.

It starts slow but it has a fast and fun battle system, which is pretty much the granddaddy of the Tales battle systems of the newer games.

Yeah I did use Semi-Auto in some games like Rebirth and Narikiri Dungeon X, I just think it's dumb it's still the default and in some cases, Manual has to be unlocked. I'm all for having choices. In fact, I'm against stuff like removing Moon Selector (being able to switch between your characters mid-battle). Better tutorials would serve for easing newbies instead of intentionally nerfing the battle system.
Not one of the best, but it was pretty decent. It was also the first game in the Tales series to take the battle system a big step forward.
IMO, it aged pretty well too for being the 3rd main Tales game.

Yeah, like I said earlier, it's where Tales found its voice instead of just being the sibling to Star Ocean.

I would feel so Trolled, since it was one of GC's and Nintendo fan's swan song in the RPG realm during that generation when we were starved for content. Even though I own a PS3 and all that.

Awesome if true. First Tales game I played, still my favorite one in terms of nostalgia.

Would make more sense as a Wii U collection, but I guess PS3 makes more sense from a business standpoint.

It already received a PS2 port with more content in that generation. Multiplatform would be best, but being upset about it not being Nintendo-exclusive...that boat's been long sailed.

If the remake's true, I'd hope for PS3 and Wii U to have the current fanbase on PS3, and to see if the Wii U would be a good platform going forward.

It was ported to the PS2 but not in the West from my knowledge. So as far as the West is concerned it was a GC exclusive. Though wasnt Symphonia the best Tales of game financially in the West too? Shows how much a drought of games would do to a fanbase.

Most of the Tales fanbase in Japan is currently on Sony systems though. Ideally they'd make the games multiplatform for the West.

It's the biggest by a long shot.

In the west, Symphonia >> Vesperia ~ DotNW > (by a small amount but this gap is bigger than Vesperia and DotNW) Graces F

Other than Symphonia, the Tales games top out at 150 - 200k in North America if they are lucky. Don't know how well Tales does in Europe.

Yeah, a Wii U remake this early on would just make tons of sense. Take advantage of that gaming drought and previous ToS fans.

Which is why I doubt it's happening. :(

How did Abyss sell compared to Symphonia in the west?

Symphonia probably benefited from being one of the first titles on the GC with a lack of JRPGs.

A 3DS port like Abyss would also be nice.

Well, it really depends. Nintendo did an advertising blitz and did the localization for Symphonia. It was really a perfect storm. I'm not sure it could ever be replicated again.

I don't know if I'm interested in this or not....

I would die for Xenosaga Trilogy HD.... my all time favorite trilogy.

Seriously what are they waiting for to do it?

Someone other than the original devs would have to do the remaster, and a lot of time that never turns out good. I'd imagine it'd turn out worse for something like an RPG where there is so much content.

Well if they decided to put it on Wii U, then the original team could do it. As it stands Monolith still regurlarly works with Kos-Mos and they did make the Episode 1&2 for the DS.

I love how the old "Nintendo funded Symphonia's localization!!" allegation is still going strong. Even if Nintendo did help or fund part of Symphonia's localization, I'm sure the contact reverted the rights back to Namco years ago. Or do you also think Square is unable to port the localization of any Nintendo published Dragon Quest games?

Please be true. I would buy and tolerate the shit out of Symphonia HD with the PS2 features. Would never play that other tenuously connected game they include with it though.

Outside the annoying characters with horrific voice acting, Symphonia's a really fun game and probably my second/third favorite in the series (Legendia = Vesperia > Symphonia > Eternia > The Rest)

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
It will make sense if the collection gets localized since well... Both games have already been localized.

Now I hope we get Tales of Vesperia on Vita.

GOD I wish this could go on Xbox 360, but microsoft seems to be well done with moneyhatting for JRPGs, which makes me sad.

I am going to HAVE to buy a PS3 NO MATTER WHAT now if this is true

also, there is no reason to have Vesperia on Vita, or 3DS or anything really, whats it going to gain?

I dunno about this, Symphonia as is being pretty rough. It really needs a full on remake, not a bundled HD remaster.

Why would the answer be "no"? Scamco does a lot of PS3/Vita releases.
Bandai side does, but not Namco side really. They didn't even bother with TTT2. Besides, the last multiplatform Tales was... never?

You'll still get Tempest R though.

When was the last time Namco made a multiplat Tales? Even if it's just a remaster I doubt it'll happen. Plus if this rumor is true, why didn't he mention the Vita alongside the PS3?

Not sure how you can call it a swan song when Baten Kaitos Origins came out 2 years later

If Sony foots the bill for the port, I don't see why not.

Yeah like how they asked Namco to port God Eater Burst to Vita.

I think it can happen, the Vita is in sore need of a game like this. I have both a PS3 and a Vita, but I would much rather play this title on the go than at home. Do us a all favor guys :).

I, uhm, liked DotnW. Gameplay was solid Tales stuff, nothing to write home about but not bad either, while the mo-capped cutscenes and the skits might have been the best of the bunch of Tales games released in the west. :S
