2016-2017 NCAA Men's Basketball |OT| Villanova has no fans so this is their thread

I'm telling you it's Greggy P's time.

Why wouldn't you want the father of Aaron Craft's style to lead your team?

Ohio State has hired the former head coach of Butler

Related: Thad Matta is visiting Butler right now on a "college visit for his daughter". Stay woke fellas

🍿

In other NCAA news, Cam Johnson has been cleared to play for the Heels.

Repeat incoming.

Pittsburgh should have stuck to their guns and denied the transfer 😤

No they shouldn't have. The college athlete already gets a raw deal in that they rarely enjoy the full fruits of their labor. Denying them their agency to move to schools of their choice when coaches do it all the time is bush. Should have picked a different school tho...

I guess Billy Donovan was asking for too much money :p

Congrats to OSU on getting a good coach in Holtmann. Hopefully Butler can find a good coach to replace him so they can remain a mid-major force to be reckoned with in the NCAA tournament in the years to come.

NCAA rules on Louisville sex scandal and comes down hard, giving Western Kentucky the death penalty.

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...s-coach-rick-pitino-suspended-five-games-ncaa

Quick hits:

- Rick Pitino is suspended for five ACC games
- No additional postseason ban (Louisville self-punished previously)
- May vacate games played from 2010 to 2014, which includes 2013 national championship
---- Has 45 days to review games and report back
---- Duke may have never lost in Elite 8. Put up a sixth championship banner, Auburn style. Do it.

Louisville is currently 10th on the all-time program wins list.

If every game played between 2010 and 2014 had to be vacated they would fall out of the top 25 on that list

The NCAA, as of today, has instructed UofL to vacate its 2013 national title, a first in men's basketball history. Appeal to come.

Related: As that 2013 Elite 8 game basically was the national championship...Duke now has 6 titles!

Speaking of teams with 6 titles*, the way the NCAA's come down on Louisville has to make a certain school in Chapel Hill, North Carolina nervous...

No. 1 player in the Class of 2018 Marvin Bagley looking at potentially reclassifying to play in college for the 2017-18 season.

If he reclassifies expect him to decide between Duke and SoCal.

NCAA selection committee redefines "quality win" to boost value of road Ws; says composite metric to replace RPI is likely coming in '18-19

Maybe K will actually start playing true road games in the non-conference outside of the B1G/ACC Challenge.

Doubt it. Still no point. And when the ACC goes to 20 games with the start of ACCN, there's even less of a likelihood it will happen.

So obviously they'll announce something this afternoon and immediately make me eat my words.

So... If Bagley joins Duke. Do we have the number 1 recruiting class two years in row?

Catfans.
👀

Best day in Duke basketball history on draft day 2018?

So according to ESPN

Duke has the

#1 PG
#1 SG
#1 PF
#1 PF (that's right, they have the 2 #1 PFs)

I hope they all like each other.

(The first #1 PF was #1 until Bagley reclassified, who is the new #1 and top player overall.)

Grayson would be the #1 returning SG in the country.

Good lawd at our karma debt. I am expecting us to tank and become ACC bottom feeders once K retires.

Probable preseason #1 with one senior, a bunch of dudes who can't get run, and 7764879 top 10 prospect freshmen?

The full-on Kentuckification of Duke Basketball is complete.

Sad!

Will be less sad if they win!

Pre seasom Favorites never win it all, right?

Using the AP poll, the preseason #1 has won it 14 times over the past 51 years (1966-1967 season). Granted, 6 of those were the UCLA teams of the 60s and 70s, but since their run ended, it's happened 8 times over roughly 40 years.

#2 has won 9 times over 51 years.
#3 has won 4 times.
#4 has won 5 times.

The top 4 in the preseason poll combine for 32 championship over the past 51 seasons.

I should rephrase it. It's been a long time since a pre season #1 has won it all.
