POKÉTON! New Pokémon anime starring RED (!) from Pokémon Red/Blue [Up: Trailer]

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
Well, if enough people bought the bluray version of the episode when it comes out, it might become a series.

Will absolutely watch....but Red is supposed to be a badass. Left home without even fucking talking to his mother, and didn't pack shit.

If I said I didn't shed a tear when I saw this, I would be lying. This is a dream come true. I'd also argue that if they tried, they couldn't do a better job. Tying RGBY elements with FRLG elements? It's almost too perfect.

I'm guessing that Bulbasaur will be picked by the female protagonist in FR/LG, she'll probably be a side character who shows up occasionally.
Or she'll be like blue/green in Pokemon Adventure

Pokémon Trainer to return in Sm4sh confirmed.
Fuck. Yeah.

Oh, it's just a special. Well, if it does great audience-wise, maybe they'll continue it, won't they?

Ugh, it's just a special?

They need to cancel the animé and go forward with this as a reboot.

You realise the Pokemon anime is modern day GI Joe, yes? It exists to sell the games. Running a full series based off of Red and Green does nothing to sell X and Y.

I want it too, but it wouldn't be a smart move.

They can't do the same thing by having a new series handoff at the launch of each game? I do not understand how this wouldn't be feesible.

You mean like if this upcoming X&Y series had the X&Y protagonists? No reason, really. That'd be doable.

I'm just saying that scrapping the current anime and replacing it with a Red and Green anime would be so daft. Any other scenario that includes a X&Y themed anime (that takes precedence in schedules/promotion/etc) would be fine, of course.

Isn't the anime a lot more important to the revenue of Pokémon than the actual games? Cancelling the anime or scrapping Ash would kill their most steady revenue stream. The 2012-movie made $45 million just on its initial Japanese run.

Highly unlikely, considering the anime and its merchandise is only really consumed by children, whereas the games have an audience that ranges from like 3 to 30, and they have the fuckton of sales to prove it.

The games help maintain the relevance and reputation of the brand, anyway. The anime and its movies make a hell of a lot of money, obviously, but it all relies on the core product being up to snuff. Very few cross-media phenomenons outgrow their source material (the obvious exception being Transformers) and I'm hesitant to place Pokemon amongst those phenomenons.

But the kids are still getting introduced to the games through the anime. It is why Pikachu remains popular despite never playing a big role aside from Pokémon Yellow.

On top of that, he went through all the gyms, several fights with Team Rocket and his rival, and the Elite Four with almost no food, water or sleep. Kid's a goddamn machine.

You don't get money from tv shows believe me. The bulk of their profits will be in merchandising (toys, cards etc) and the actual games themselves. The anime is nothing more than a long commercial to get kids to buy them.
