Will definitely invest in some Zen Pinball action tomorrow. Gonna pick up some Marvel tables and PvZ. Any of the "standard" tables stand out?

Probably Ikachan, Witch's Cat and Bloody Vampire for me tomorrow. (Hopefully the two latter titles are priced OK.)

Hopefully PicDun 2 soon. :(

Of all the great things about Virtual Console, nothing is more disappointing than what the 3DS offers.

Nintendo is doing their best to stretch out their limited GB library across the 3DS's lifespan.

Third parties really need to step it up though. They're the biggest void in the 3DS Virtual Console.

I wonder how much Trine will be when it finally hits NZ/Aus. All the delays have lost a bit of hype the game had with people on Miiverse sadly. :( A good price might get them back on board.

I almost bought little inferno last night since it's on sale for $10, but an iOS version comes out of nowhere for half that tonight.

Witch's Cat and Bloody Vampire look like all the quirky little indie Japanese games that I want to get into, but can't. Sorta like the Touhou series.

Ahh Bloody Vampire, maybe I'll be able to finish it this time. Seemed like a pretty cool metriodvania from what I played.

I'm hoping that one of these days Tank Tank Tank will be released from the purgatory of the Coming Soon list and actually show up on the eshop. Seems like a good game to always have handy on a hard drive instead of a disc.

Figure this is a good place to ask: what the heck happened to that 3DS announcement "within the week" that was teased a while ago?

Idiots question here but it's hardly worth a new thread (and apologies as I'm sure the information is available in some other thread) but can I still purchase old Wii Virtual Console and Wii Ware games on the Wii U eShop? I sold my Wii so really have no other option to purchase Wii Ware games. I guess it's possible but just want confirmation as I'm buying my Wii U for F-Zero! Thanks!

You can't purchase them directly on the Wii U eShop, but the Wii U has a Wii menu app that loads up and looks just like the Wii, and you can access the Wii Shop and buy the WiiWare and VC stuff from within that. You'll need a Wii Remote to use Wii Mode. It's a really strange way to go about backwards compatibility, but at least you can do it.

So the Wii Shop within the Wii Mode on the Wii U?! Crazy! Thanks! I'll be purchasing a sensor/nunchuk/remote etc at the same time as the Wii U.

Edit: another probably dumb question but within the Wii Shop within Wii Mode within the Wii U can I use my credit card or would I need a points card? Thanks again!

It uses points but you should be able to buy points with a CC just like on the Wii. The Wii U (both models) does come with a sensor bar and HDMI cable. The Pro (black) model also comes with a Gamepad charging cradle, Gamepad stand, and vertical stand for the system, and of course Nintendo Land and the bigger hard drive.

Thanks so much for this, it's been years since I bought anything on the Wii Shop when I had my Wii and my memory is hazy! Probably the basic model for me despite all it's shortcomings (memory etc) as I really prefer the white. Just searching Wikipedia for the VC games I'll be buying. Damn R-Type removals!

So what are the chances of getting Pokemon fire red for the 3ds virtual console? And what about being able to buy virtual console games with club nintendo points in the eu?

None, because they aren't doing GBA games for 3DS VC... Even more so though, I really don't think Nintendo will ever release Pokemon on the VC. Without trades and events, no one would be able to complete the get all Pokemon, and I'm pretty sure Nintendo wants the current games received full attention, not fighting against the older ones. Pokemon isn't a single player deal, it exists on an eco-system, and VC games could hurt that.

Nintendo themselves when they announced the Ambassador program. Of course they also phrased it in such a way that they could change their minds sometime later if they wanted to.
They were talking about the ten ambassador games. Not all GBA games.

The regular prices will be AU$19.99 and NZ$24.99. The launch discount will be announced soon and I think it's good... And the release itself should be within hours (sorry for any disappointment when we said Jan 31 a while back - we didn't realize it would actually be Jan 1 in the early hours in the morning over there).

Well still about 3hrs left of Jan 31st on the Western side of the country. For me though being on the other side of the country, I need sleep.

Will be double dipping on the game tomorrow when I get up (have on PC as well, but thinking I might get fiance involved with playing the Wii U version, so haven't played on PC yet).

The Cave – Demo Version – The Cave is a new adventure game from Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion creator Ron Gilbert and Double Fine Productions, the award-winning studio behind Psychonauts and Brütal Legend. Assemble your team of three from seven unlikely adventurers, each with his or her own unique personality and story. Am I the only person who's annoyed by the fact that most of the games don't have their price listed in the press release every week? I mean, what's the rationale behind holding back vital information that helps prospective buyers decide what they want to purchase? Why do some games have their price listed but others don't?

I was hoping for Zen Pinball on the U.S. eShop, but damn, we're behind again. Just seems like with a few exceptions the U.S. store is always behind. Ugh.

Gonna try The Cave demo, though.

Wouldn't that be "Fuck you SoA"?

I'm counting the years until Sega decides again to give Puyo a western push. Digital shift should make it easier, I'd even be happy with the Mini release at this point.

I love puyo puyo games, but have only played the older western releases like Mean Bean Machine and Kirby's Avalanche. I don't get why there isn't at least an iphone version or xbla game. I mean iOS is practically a perfect platform for puzzle games like this.

I guess Sega is just dumb as shit, like how chu chu rocket isn't on every platform available either. But then they still have money to scoop up Relic in the THQ sale.
