Dude, what added pressure? There's no expectations for him to win, none what so ever. He's going to be in the same boat with the other young players on that team. The media is not give to shits about Andrew Wiggins in Minnesota. He'll put up stats there but that's about it. The real pressure is playing with LeBron, stepping up and contributing right away.

It's almost like I said it's NOT FAN PRESSURE. Athletes put pressure on themselves and to him, playing on a stacked team might be a safety net when he wants to become the go-to guy.

Nothing to do with the media, the fans, or anyone else but him and his team.

I never played a sport where I didn't put pressure on myself for one reason or another and Wiggins basically told his coach that's what he wants where the team needs him. It has nothing to do with anyone else but himself and wanting to become a breakout player.

You make no sense. There's definitely more pressure playing with LeBron under bright lights than playing in Minnesota. Wiggins has nothing to worry about in Minnesota other than playing basketball, which he's been doing all his life. If it was LeBron, Irving, and Wiggins, he'd be counted on to shut down the opposing team's best player and contribute enough to make a difference offensively. You act like he's gonna drop 25 a night in Minny. That 18 that he might average in Minny is the 18 he'd be able to score much more easily with LeBron/Kyrie in Cleveland.

How is it more pressure when he doesn't have to be the GO-TO guy like I said? Like I said once again, I think he's trying to rationalize the trade and accept it and I can get his excuse for doing so. He wants to be number 1 on the team and feel like the team would fail without him. That doesn't mean anyone thinks Minnesota will be amazing or even that he'll be amazing, but he wants to be number 1 on the team and only worry about basketball which is what you just said. There's not going to be a circus in Minnesota watching his every move and he can just develop his talents and hopefully become a huge star on a team that will need one.

I never said he's going to succeed there, just I understand his reasoning so no need to be a dick for having a different opinion. You act like I said he's going to drop 25 a night when that wasn't my point at all and is never a guarantee. I personally would want to be on the Cavs under LeBron but I get his point. That's all I'm saying so I'm not sure what the issue is. One might think it's more pressure to live up to LeBron's expectations, another might want to develop for a small team where your presence will be undeniable on both ends of the court without all the media surrounding it and only your own internal pressure to succeed to worry about. He might feel like he's the next big player and that Minnesota can be developed around him instead. All I'm saying is I can understand what he said.

Of course he'd have pressure on the Cavs, but he wants to accept the trade and be the key player for a franchise which he would have been before LeBron came back. He still could have been, but he's just trying to accept the inevitable since LeBron had his mind set on this trade as soon as he announced his return. Wiggins thinks he'll strive to improve more under Minnesota than Cleveland and despite my preference of wanting to learn from LeBron, I get what he was saying.

Yeah, dude is just rationalizing the trade, or having his old coach rationalize it for him. Last month, he said we has excited to play with LeBron. His perception changes along with his reality, and there's nothing wrong with that. Whatever gets him motivated, you know?

A rookie to shut the down the opposing team best player. You can not be serious. Wiggins has more pressure playing in Minnesota than with the Cavs. Book it, dude is still #1 overall pick.

Big news.
RT @thebiglead: DETAILS: Bill Simmons Leaving ESPN Countdown, Launching 'The Grantland Basketball Show' http://wp.me/p3LRnW-1FQO

Bill Simmons is leaving ESPN NBA Countdown and launching his own NBA show – “The Grantland Basketball Show” — this Fall, two sources tell The Big Lead.

Simmons, who spent the last three years on NBA Countdown, will star on the show, which begins October 21st at 8 pm on ESPN. There will be 18 one-hour episodes that air throughout the NBA season and through the NBA Finals. Grantland contributors are expected to be featured prominently.

Interesting.

I hate Bill Simmons on TV (just terrible in about 2 million ways), so I am glad he's leaving the show.

Wiggins' defense is NBA ready. There's no pressure playing in Minnesota. No gives a shit.

He's basically as good a defender as Scottie Pippen ever was.

If we are going to make things up before he plays in a single NBA game, we might as well go big!
WTF are you talking about? Did I compare him a HOF? No. I said his defense is already at the NBA level, just like PG's defense was ahead of his offense. They need to burn this thread to the ground. Best gaf is no longer more.

Interesting.
I wonder who will replace him? Maybe let the trio work first before deciding if they need a fourth one. Theres like zero candidates that is currently in espn to choose from. Jalen is okay on the show so as doug. Sage is alright too but i prefer cassidy hubbarth. Hubbarth not doris level in basketball knowledge but she seems to be more knowledgeable in bball than sage is (or maybe its just that sage doesnt quite fit well with jalen/bill).

I would assume Jalen will be part of this Grantland venture - he has a Grantland podcast with Jacoby and I don't see him on the website much aside from Grantland.

This thread died once people in here actually started using the idiotic term "Best gaf". I miss the old days :\ I'd even take Absinthe back.

And I have reservations about calling anyone's game, in any way, "NBA ready", before they've even played a single NBA game. The list of players who had some part of their game "NBA ready", but didn't once they actually played games, is about 2 billion rookies long.

Theres literally no pressure playing Minnesota. No one gives shit about The Wolves there. The Lynx are more popular than The Wolves.
The Lynx are really good and a well run organization. The Wolves are about to lose their second Top 5 player in the last 7 years and are a fucking clown show.

Look, if Wiggins wants to be here that's cool because it got gross waiting for Love to inevitably leave after they fucked up and didn't give him the max. Also, tons of alley oops will be cool.

So the Knicks play the Wizards on Christmas Day.

I might be in New York that day, how will one go about getting some tickets to it? Did a quick research and the only ones I found were 6 tickets from Stubhub. All are tickets gone or will they go on sale later on?

I think they'll go on sale later, probably only season tickets for sale right now

Cousins got hurt in Team USA practice today, is going to have an MRI on his leg.

This might be an all guard team by the time they get to Spain.

Watched the practice video on ESPN where he got hurt, did Nene get hurt on that play to? Looked like he was grabbing his knee.

Wouldn't be surprised if owners are shitting their pants right now.

Melo even during his rookie year wasn't the most athletic guy but I think it will benefit him in the long run, plus the added quickness should be interesting that first step off the dribble it's gonna be even more deadly #staymelo PEACE ( shoutouts to pimp )

If Melo is as good as everyone says he is (I don't watch him too often), then shouldn't it not really matter if he cuts some fat?

It's easier on his knees and he may be a little bit more agile. Sure he can't bull through people, but he's surely got the skill to adapt his game?

Edit: I'm not disagreeing with you, by the way. Just wanted to chime in to your conversation.

Phil's probably been asking all the knick players to be workout warriors during the off season. Hardaway Jr. looked a little bigger during summer league and Stoudemire posted an instagram of him working out (although I'm not even sure if that's a good thing any more).

Felton didn't buy in.
