I am a bit confused as to which 4.04 file to use...I am seeing too many options here.

Which is the one you guys are installing? Can I get a link or a name? The XDA thread I found listed a few different downloads for it.

I've been pretty happy with this CodenameAndroid ROM but I would love to give 4.04 a shot. Thanks.

I'm not sure what CM9 can offer over stock 4.0.4 on this phone. The point of CM is a skin-free Android experience, you get that out of the box with Tuna!

I'm on 4.0.4, the only things I miss from custom ROMs are the Status Bar Toggles and 4-target unlock screen. To be fair those are pretty convenient things that I miss, but I'll deal without them for now.

There a few tweaks and things I liked from cm that I've been my missing like not having to press enter after entering your password, or forcing your launcher to stay in memory.

Does anyone consistently have issues with voice to text? I'm always getting server unavailable messages, even when I immediately test my connection as working within a browser. Shit is so unusable in 4.0.x, it makes me rage.

is it recent? i've been having google connectivity issues, it'll see 3g or 4g but the bars don't turn blue (won't connect to google servers), however don't use STT much so dunno about that (it worked once yesterday). I imagine if you can't connect to gtalk servers it won't work.

I use it a few times a day and I've seen that message once, but I clearly had no signal.

It's been shitting the bed more recently, but always been a nagging issue. Was an issue with Siri too, for what's it worth. Maybe it's just Verizon being crap in general.

I'm pretty sure that Verizon is having network issues all around. My 3G/4G have not been the most stable the past few days, and for some reason my radios have been eating up battery way more now compared to a week ago. I'm in Michigan.

See, this is the thread I was looking at, but my problem is which of those ROM download is suggested?

:)

I was figuring this is the one I want right?

Rooted,De-odexed,Zip-aligned ROM With Stock Insecure Boot Image And New Radios & Bootloader

Everyone is saying 4.04 is great, and even though I am good with this 4.03 custom ROM, I'd like to see what the hubbub is about.

I can't believe that fucking NCAA March Madness On Demand is incompatible, what a load of shit

NFL Mobile wasn't compatible for several weeks after Tuna launched on Verizon. Of course NCAA March Madness is a little more time-sensitive, they needed to make it compatible YESTERDAY. If it's not compatible by tomorrow, when the first round officially starts, there will be rioting on Android Market Google Play.

Does anyone else have issues with the placement of the space bar on their nexus? I'm constantly hitting the fullstop instead of space.

I typed this on my nexus and did it 6 times already.

So, how much confident are you guys about the longevity of this phone?

I saw some reviews of the Nexus nothing that Its hardware is nothing to write home about, even with outdated stuff like the GPU, and since I plan to stick with my new phone for a good while, I dont want it to become outdated or not able to run newer apps or even what comes after Jelly Bean.

Also, I see that it doesnt have Gorilla Glass. How much of an issue can this be for someone who is constantly putting and taking the celphone from a jeans pocket?

Thanks!

On the glass, I can say that you'll want to get a protector for it, unfortunately. My iPhone 4 went in and out of my pocket for almost 2 years without a single scratch. In 2 weeks my Nexus screen had more than a few hairline scratches on it. I was very disappointed.

I'd recommend a sleeve pouch for anything that costs over $400 that sits in your pocket.

Screen protectors look like ass on the GN screen because the edges are round before they been the side.

Ok maybe I am stupid but is there any way I could get that desk clock or the clock that is on the lock screen to appear on my homescreen as a widget.

Please dont tell me I have to pay for that hdtheme app?

Thanks guys. But, whats your rake in my hardware and longevity concerns?

Even though the hardware is about to be usurped, it's still pretty powerful and hardly being stressed.

If you're really concerned I'd wait for GSIII, but you're going to be paying a very high price for it.

This happens to me constantly. The next sentence I will type out with no corrections.

The keybkard i fwel is every unlredictable. It seems to have a weird setting kn it where.kt tries to guess what letter youre trying to press rarher than actuallt puttingthat letter iut.

Yikes. I don't know why this keyboard is so bad. I have always typed perfectly on other phones but typing on this thing has always been hard... especially when autocorrect doesn't work on some text boxes such as this one.

I really recommend Smart Keyboard Pro. I got it for my previous Galaxy S and it's just as good on my Nexus. It's pretty much iPhone quality, and on such a nice, large screen, it's lovely.

I found another use for my GN, T.V calibration. Figured the screen being oled, color accuracy and white balance should be near flawless. My set is a Toshiba 46S670U with a CMS. Wikipedia the three primary colors, including yellow, using the colors image on the GN, while same image displayed on HD set. My set is connected to my PC. I adjusted hue for each color to match, the GN image. And wow, near reference quality picture.

This hasn't been my experience at all. I got mine on day 1, and put it in and out of my pocket daily except for weekends. No scratches here.

Pre-release, I was very concerned about the lack of Gorilla Glass after enjoying it on my Droid 1 for two years, but in my experience it is equivalent.

I just installed swift keyboard trial. It seems a bit more responsive but I'm still hitting fullstop dammit :(

For a company that specialises in letting us find and share knowledge, not to mention communicating with people both on large and small scales Google doesn't have the faintest idea how to communicate with its customers.

I'm not expecting an exact date but it would be nice to have a rough time scale for when Galaxy Nexus GSM users can expect to have a 4.03 or later rom. I'm aware that carriers and testing play a part but all it would take is a simple blog post to say that they are working on the update, what the current stage of the process is and a rough time-scale they are targeting for release.

Honestly, you'd think this shit was rocket science not PR 101.

Okay, what rom and kernel are all the cool GSM kids using now? Codename android has gotten buggier for me for some reason. Would like to try something new.

I hear you bro. I am starting to understand the lack of man power Google has behind the team that manages the Nexus devices and quite frankly its shithouse. Companies like Sony whom used to be abysmal at customer care have turned it around and now make Google look like a business run out of someone's home. Its a crying shame because people like Martias & Vic are great to the public but let out of their cage maybe twice a year.

(full stop came up waaaay too many times when writing this)

So my contract is up next month, is this still the best Verizon phone on the market or should I wait a couple of months? I really like the Galaxy Note and would wait for that if its coming.

I'm mostly happy with the camera. Yeah, it's effectively outdoor only, but I like it for the speed because I have a toddler who doesn't hold poses very long.

You don't want to let that get away.

Does that protector not actually cover the whole screen? How's that work out? (i've been reading the amazon reviews)

It can't cover the entire screen from edge to edge because it's a dry application and the glass is slightly curved at the edges, causing the protector to peel off.

If you want one that covers edge to edge, get the Steinheil Flex, it's a wet application protector though. I went through the process of doing wet application to put a skin on my Touchpad and I'm never doing that again, I got it soaking wet by the time I was done applying the skin and I was wondering if it was going to turn on or not.
