Jonah looked like a mongoloid Clark Kent with those glasses:

Gary has been really insufferable. Apart from that, it's really good. Catherine with her mom's body double?

This episode was written by two series regulars, Georgia Pritchett and Will Smith. It wasn't particularly different in tone from earlier season's episodes either.

Nice touch with the books.

it's clear that this season has lost the subtle Ianucci touch, but i kind of like where it has gone.
Yup, it feels more different than I thought at first, but it's still a whole lot of fun. Some of the cartoonishness might be caused by the focus on the aftermath of the election, too, maybe that'll change a bit when / if they go back to the old format next year.

The only thing that's really not quite on par with previous seasons is their swearing, that used to be a lot more snide and creative.

You're a big guy.
Catherine is Jack Bauer's daughter WHAT

Yeah it is a nice change actually, I said it before but season five felt like it was spinning its wheels.

^They're going to get Sue at that point soon enough. I'm ok with that, honestly. Gary and Kent are still hilarious to me.

He's still amusing to me but he's probably the most flanderized character at this point. Kent as well, but not as extreme.

The only thing I didn't like from last night's episode was Gary thinking that c-word was crone. This is a guy who a couple seasons ago started a chant of "Let's throw cum!" It seemed more like something Buster would say as opposed to Gary.

Everything else was great though. I loved that Jonah is so unappealing that him laughing and chasing a kid at a playground looks not quite right.

If you see the commercials on his campaign website, they close on a direct portrait of him looking sinister with an axe. It's glorious.

I love the fact that they're portraying him as an exciting outsider candidate to New Hampshire politics because he's been in DC for so long.

Is the voiceover guy for the narrated advert the same voice as does the various interstitial segments for Last Week Tonight?

i really dislike gary and selina's interactions throughout this season, because it's always the same 'get the fuck away from me gary' and it's kinda played out.

also i'm a terrible person, so ben's 'thank you, kent's autism' joke was probably the funniest this week.

New episode tonight:
Congressional Ball

Selina bargains for votes at the White House Christmas party; the staff is preoccupied with the annual "50 Hottest D.C. Staffers" list; Mike considers a job outside of politics; Dan helps Jonah with debate preparation.

Poor Maria Zyrianova didn't even get a line as the escort. I've watched Party Down's "Celebrate Ricky Sargulesh" so many times, she's easy to recognize even without lines or close-ups.

I need a transcript of that green room takedown from the show. Vicious.

I cringed at the "Special friend" line - like it was the 1970s and someone talking about their aunt. Funny but damn...amazing how Selina can be direct and no-BS one moment then ignorantly oblivious the next. JLD just does both so well. Catherine is gonna snap.

I am a little upset on Amy's line towards Gary at the end. Gary didn't deserve that, seemed a little out of character for her. Not like Gary is Jonah (Jon H) or anything so I ended up not on Amy's side when I usually am. Felt weird.

Agreed, and the line wasn't funny or even amusing - it was just mean for the sake of being mean, which is not my favorite thing.

I didn't even realize there are only three episodes left in this season until it showed at the end :/
This season just goes so fast

Good episode. I was pleased to see a return of real venom this episode with some of the scenes. I feel like the show has been a little softer during the first part of the season (still funny, but not quite as mean), but it was a real return to form this week.

This is probably the most vicious Selena we've ever seen. It was amazing. I also liked the development between Selena and Tom James, it was a nice call back to the first season.

I feel like Mike is on the verge of his own breakdown moment. Every member from Selena's original staff has had it out with her to some degree, and this election has taken a lot out of him. It's just a matter of time before he blows up.

As a final note, I'm disappointed with how Gary has been handled this season. He really doesn't even seem like a character anymore.
