That stream really makes me wish I had a ship big enough to put a Dragonfly in.

Ohh well, I'll stick with the Avenger/Reliant combo I have for now :p

When is this expected to leave the alpha-stage? Really jaw-dropping demonstration, this could become the dream space game, but in how many more years?

a couple more years at the rate they are going

this was all based around the stanton system and they have a hell of a lot more than just 1 system coming :) (they indicated 100 star systems at launch)

this game is going to be absolutely ridiculously massive when they're done

I don't think making 40 more systems is going to take that much time (copy-paste kinda), but the game-mechanics and server stuff...yeah.

It should also be noted that not all Star Systems will be as heavily populated.

Stanton is one of the larger ones due to all the planets being Corporate headquarters.

you see the kind of detail they're making the hubs in?

oh it's gonna be a while. people also don't even realize how big Terra Prime is going to be.

it's going to have a huge subway for that planet alone lol

Melting stuff to buy the explorer package (the $600 one, just have to pay a couple of bucks extra :D)

Is the sale going to be up all weekend?

Can we unban Derek Smart for just an hour or two?

Not worth it. He'd post a huge, steaming pile of copypasta from his latest blog, then duck out and never answer questions because he can't control the conversation here.

I'd strongly advise against checking out his Twitter if you've got hypertension or high blood pressure, the salt content is waaaaaaaaay too high.

I'm skeptical about SC but that demo was freaking amazing, downloading the game again so i can see if the game is still janky as hell.

No one can know for sure, but finishing every system will take much more than a couple years! It will be 4-6 months just to release what we saw today.

6 to 8 years from now to finish all currently-planned systems.

Not to be a nitpicky bitch, but it's hard listening to this when the person talking says "eeeehhh" so much that he sounds like a sheep.

So was there anything regarding SP progress? Also anyone have a quick summary for the stream for those of us who didn't have 3 hours? ;)

That's not how these things work. Like they said in the stream, development is exponential.

The MMO part is progressing well. 2.5 will be out next week and 2.6 and 3.0 should be out by the end of the year. 3.0 includes the procedural planet stuff and a whole boatload of new features.

Singleplayer stuff wasn't shown today, they will show it at Citizencon which is in Oct.

hell naw.

Eh, at the moment 970-level cards can play fine in arena commander, even if it's a complete mess in the PTU. It's hard to say where things we'll be when they get server-side shit leveled out. In either case, it's definitely not gonna get maxed out on a 1060.

Yea? Because my old 970FTW ran like dog shit. I definitely wouldn't tell someone they're safe with anything below a 980 in performance.

Fuck :-(

Edit... 1070?

1070 would be fine. My 980Ti was quite acceptable.

Thanks! Good stuff about 2.6/3.0 coming out this year. Finally will jump in (already bought the base pack MP/SP and upgraded ship on a sale a few months back) once I update my CPU from 3770K.

Really interested in SP though. I loved the shit out of Wing Commander/Privateer/Freelancer back in the day and would love a good version of that. Elite didn't quite hit that spot and X is still a mess.

They will most definitely come up with better ways to make them quicker. They just are taking a more detailed approach the No Man's Sky and that's why it's just 100.But they will surely come up with procedural techniques to make them faster, he even mentioned it today. I say 2-3 years for all systems.

The single player (Squadron 42) is military focused. You will mostly dogfight and talk to people with the occasional FPS and EVA I guess.

The freelancer stuff and do whatever you want happens in the MMO (Star Citizen).

No, it wont have sub. You just need to buy the game.

Post game monotization is going to be an interesting challenge to balance right. In the very least, I wouldn't be surprised if the current sub system remains in place where you can optionally contribute monthly for minor visual flair items. That in addition to the purchasing of UEC, and whatever other plans they might have.

It's great that you're so optimistic and excited! All I can say is please resist getting angry or indignant when it inevitably takes much longer than 2 years to create hundreds of landing zones. These things do take time.

They have templates built for planet creation so apparently they can get planets done without taking ages to finish them. The time consuming thing to create is probably hub/city areas.
