Uncharted Collection Story trailer

Thought I'd read they were making the combat uniform across all entries, including grenades / throwback?

In U3 when an enemies would throw a grenade close to Nate, In a small window of time, you could actually press triangle to grab it and throw it back.

I think Drake's gonna die, or lose something that makes his quit at least.

He's had a ton of happy endings already, his good fortune is bound to run out.

Yeah, too bad it's a game and as such it must conform to whatever rules we have in real life, right?

Damn.....this trailer has me weeping. The mood, the music, the scenes, the message......greatness from small beginnings. Then Greatness Awaits at the end. I dunno if I can do this, play Uncharted 4 knowing it's the end.

I just keep imagining Drake or Sully saying this:

tumblr_inline_npt35i7W9S1t30gb4_500.gif

And damn it's crushing my soul. I'm still crying....this is too much. Day One is all I can say

I'm really going to miss Nate, Sully and the crew. :(

I think you might have nailed it, because wide-angle landscape shots look fantastic in 60fps but facial acting scenes go pear-shaped immediately. It's like 60fps makes the 'uncanny valley' effect of the facial movements and body language even more apparent due to the higher fidelity.

That's interesting... I had no idea why I was responding that way.

Honestly, this is always what I thought they mean when developers of cinematic titles say they feel 30fps is the best choice for their games.

Personally, I really would like to see that. It would have been nice to have that scene put in the new trailer... just for comparison purposes. I am still wondering if Bluepoint Games managed to pull that off, you know, fix the lighting and shaders the way ND first showed/wanted the scene to look like in the E3 trailer (2011?).

It would be a good idea, but if we are to forget it, then they might just dismissed the issue with that scene, which is something that most of us, if not all, want to see fixed, especially on PS4. For a collection that is supposed to push the visual presentation of those years old games, it should be the right time to fix it. Don't you think?

There's no error, it's how the lighting works. If you watch the cutscene the sun is heavily approaching dusk intensifying the bloom from the west. Maybe the would have better textures to reflect from the lighting but the original E1 made it look like it was in the morning/midday. A better example would be Journey:

Notice the silhouette has the colors muted against the intensifying light. That is what we're observing here.

Wow. Great trailer. That score gave me the chills. I beat all 3 games so many times but I'm in this for the U4 MP beta. Plus it will be nice to have a nice refresher on Drakes Fortune, its been a while.

Wow, great trailer. Brings back so many good memories of playing Uncharted.

The music in the trailer is fantastic.

The trailer is great and I'm looking forward to the collection, can't wait.

But the decision to lock the difficulties is baffling. Don't they realize there are a lot of returning players who'd consider going to Crushing immediately, or maybe even Brutal? I don't see why they don't just make every difficulty available from the start.

My ideal scenario was doing a casual playthrough on normal per game, then the new über crushing. Looks like that's not going to happen.

Drag out the time before traded in.

Lot of people would just nab the beta code, once through on the new difficulties, maybe some trphy clean-up if they care about that and be done with it.

Wait,

so in regards to the difficulty levels you must first beat the game to get CRUSHING then beat that again to get a EVEN HARDER ONE?

and they want you to do this for 3 games? with THIS fall line up?! the HELL?!

Crushing being locked from the start is unconfirmed. We only know that the new brutal is locked behind crushing.

I would post my English audio version of the HQ Gamersyde trailer (using the youtube audio), but they said they're working on one, so I'll let them post it. Don't want to take traffic away from the site.

Uncharted 3 felt like a rushed game. Hopefully they fixed some things like the broken stealth and weird animations when Nate would get close to a wall.

I assume Crushing is now open at the start and Brutal will be the unlocked difficulty in the collection. If not, that is indeed pretty shitty.

I believe that scene actually happens at dawn, but yeah same effect. It's like people who play a bunch of video games have never taken an early morning bus ride in a wide-open dusty area with few tall buildings to block the sun.

Uncharted 1 Crushing mode was brutal,i remember skipping fights with some glitchs lol.

I've beaten Uncharted 1 on Crushing and I'm on the second to last chapter on Uncharted 2 Crushing. I don't think either are particularly hard. However, I really have no desire to play these campaigns again on a harder difficulty. I can't see it being balanced.
Also these campaigns are boring as hell. I have no desire to play these campaigns twice...again

You're right, it is dawn. The chateau chapter took place by night. Great examples you found that perfectly illustrates why the lighting was the way it is.

You'd be very surprised how much 60fps can truly give you minutiae advantage you simply do not have at half the frame-rate.

now that's how you do a trailer!..

music very Hans Zimmer.. i half expected it to say Christopher Nolan at the end too :)

I was debating whether or not to get this, but a new lower difficulty that gets rid of bullet sponges, updated UC1 models, and costumes in SP? Yeah I'm in 100%.

What's wrong with it? Is the bottom not actually representative of the game or something? If it isn't, I'd like to see a screenshot of what that scene actually looks like in game.

I've heard arguments that it was changed because it was in a desert so therefore the bus shouldn't be all shiny, but instead there should be sand and what have you.

Can't wait to play through the Uncharted games a second time. Like the majority of people, Uncharted 3 was my least favorite of the trilogy but unlike the majority, the main thing that turned me off was early on in the game when you play as Drake when he's a kid. Not going to lie - I hated that. I quit the game halfway through at launch but finally finished it back in 2013.

With that said, im still looking forward to playing them again and will give me my Uncharted fix until Uncharted 4 next March. An excellent trilogy and if it wasn't for the fact that it was released in 2009, Uncharted 2 would easily be a game of the year candidate.

They have introduced new cinemantic stuff in the remaster. But I never understood what's the problem to handle in real time cinemantic on ps4, in the ND games with the simple gameplay graphic setting.
Yes, there is new cinematic stuff in the Gears of War Remaster but ALL of those scenes are pre-rendered. The original Gears used mostly real-time sequences in comparison. So they switched from real-time to pre-rendered for Gears Ultimate.

I've heard arguments that it was changed because it was in a desert so therefore the bus shouldn't be all shiny, but instead there should be sand and what have you.
As others have noted, discussion of that image should be centered on its artistic decisions only.

It was used regularly to suggest that a "downgrade" occurred with Uncharted 3 implying that Naughty Dog was unable to hit their original target and had to make cuts to compensate (like what we saw with Watch Dogs and various other current gen titles).

However, because it was a pre-rendered shot, this has no bearing on the discussion. It wasn't a matter of power since it was rendered offline - it was an artistic decision. It's just a video clip so it could look like anything, really. So if someone prefers the original version, that's fine, but the change had nothing to do with system resources.

Exactly what I was going for.

@bold, I am quite aware.

It'd be great if Doughnut Drake carried over into cutscenes but I'd understand why that's still not the case (because they're pre-rendered videos) but it would be funny regardless if they went that far.

Anyway, all of this new info sounds great! Really seems like ND wants to capitalize on the niche speedrunning community the Uncharted games have with the inclusion of a Speed Run mode. I wonder if they've left some of the glitches in there, like the infamous UC1 one where you can glitch the one fight in the watery area before you run into Eddy for the first time? (I doubt it, it's too easy to fix to ignore).

Skins confirmed working across all three games means UC3 will have the tweaks/cheats as well which it didn't have originally. That's all new replayability for UC3 right there while simultaneously making its more tedious trophies (weapon kills) easier to get now.

In fact, I wonder if kills in Speed Run Mode will count towards those trophies as well? Not that it would be easier considering chapter select + difficulty set to easy + the new cheats/tweaks.

I wonder if they've adapted the multiplayer-exclusive skins to single player for UC2 and UC3? It would be sick to play as the glowing skeleton through UC3's single player, for example. Or, say, even Cole from Infamous in UC2? I mean, I doubt the first party skins from UC2 will be adapted to single player but it's a nice pipedream since all the work is basically done for them -- it's just making them selectable and unlockable in SP. It wouldn't be hard, they'd just need to get approval again from those studios which can't be that... tricky, right? Since they agreed to have them in UC2 MP anyway. Well, even if they're not there I won't be mad lol. Just would be neat to have those skins in SP since there's no MP and those skins would forever be exclusive to the PS3 version then.

I'm still frizzled about it lacking any sort of non-beta multiplayer (it could have been the big chance to fix the balance in Uncharted 2/3's multiplayer :( ), but I'm glad to see they're putting their all into the rest of the package.

Pretty hyped, never played any of the uncharted but I love Assassins Creed, Tomb Raider, and Indiana Jones so I expect this to be right up my alley.
