The Rimworld Kickstarter just launched yesterday and has almost hit its target already. It's also on Steam Greenlight.

I've been watching Rimworld for a while and reckon it could be quite good. The guy's got a reasonable grounding in game design and the early gameplay footage (and reports from playtesters) looks quite promising. He's not shy about talking about his inspirations nor the resemblance to Prison Architect.

His first Kickstarter update has some interesting bits in it about why he's not going down the usual stretch-goal path or offering physical rewards.

Nice to see that The Fall has reached its Wii U stretch with 5 days to go.

Woo Hoo!

We have achieved our Wii U and Linux stretch goal, which means The Fall will be coming to the Wii U and Linux, and promptly too; without having to wait for PC/Mac sales, we'll be able to include Wii U and Linux in our initial launch. I'm very excited to begin Wii U development and let you all know how things are progressing. Exciting times to come!

Rimworld's hit its (admittedly quite low) Kickstarter target after 33 hours. It'll be interesting to see how far it goes, and whether he sticks to his guns regarding the stretch goal stuff. Rather than promising specific features for stretch goals, he says he'd devote the additional money to art and polish, which I think is reasonable. I suspect this means he'll probably have a bunch of cash to devote to getting some really top quality art work, music and sound into the game. Also he won't have to live off his savings for a while :)

Has Raindrop been mentioned in this thread already?

Raindrop is a surreal, environment driven, survival game that includes fully explorable levels with intuitive, complex puzzles.

Skyjacker - So is this their third attempt now? We had this thread last year and as far as I remember that was already their second shot. They also ran a (successfull) campaign for this in the meantime. So weird.

Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim has probably been mentioned before, but since the campaign only has 70 hours left, and they still need $7,000 to meet their goal, I reckoned that it would do with another mention in here.

I don't get why this game hasn't been funded yet. I mean, the premise is really neat: it's Zelda: The Wind Waker meets Dark Souls. They even have a playable prototype demo that you can download.

This is actually their 4th... third attempt for Skyjacker, but their 4th overall with the Skyjacker construction kit that was successful.

hoping for more hardware related Kickstarter projects

I haven't really seen much outside of Jeri Ryan's CastAr and a few game controllers.

There's this one here called iMotion, which uses some sort of haptic feedback and ends in 54 hours: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects...controller-with-haptic-feedback/?ref=kicktraq

and this one here, called Howler Arcade Controller which is another arcade joystick http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2034467396/howler-arcade-controller/?ref=kicktraq

Though the Howler Arcade Controller looks kind of cool, to be honest.

Also, not really hardware, but I am surprised that I missed this project http://www.kickstarter.com/projects...-phoenix-project-city-of-titans/?ref=kicktraq

Which is the spiritual successor to City of Heroes, and it already has raised $480,415 with 9 days to go.

I will add those to the OP later.

This game looks really cool. Love the pixel art.

Confederate Express

Confederate Express is all about exploration, fighting enemies, and making your way towards the main goal: trying to survive while delivering a package. Packages vary by size, weight and fragility; which makes every delivery a unique experience, ranging from a quick 15-minute tasks, all the way to a challenging journey throughout various events and locations. The more difficult the delivery, the greater the rewards: mercenaries, gear, weapons and ultimately - greater challenges.

Soo good, dat crpg renascence. Really hope they make it to destructible environments. Do we have a thread for it?

Oh and there's a bit of a Q&A going on on Reddit.

A new MMO Kickstarter from Brad McQuaid is on the horizon. It's going to be aiming for a niche audience that harkens back to the old school days of gaming. For those that don't know, Brad is basically the face of classic EverQuest. He and Jeff Butler (now on EQ Next) founded Sigil Games Online where they had a bit of a rough time with Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (for all its faults, I still find it enjoyable).

Anyways, this is the first Kickstarter I've been extremely excited about in a while. The goal is to create an MMO on a small (obviously) budget for people wanting a group oriented and challenging experience. Anyone interested should shoot an email or two his way. The Kickstarter is set to launch in a few weeks and he's going to have a video QA with questions submitted to him about the project.

A couple of choice quotes:

"The game is high fantasy and if you've played EQ 1 and/or Vanguard, you've got a general idea of what the game's about and what kind of questions to ask :)"

"Kickstarter video will be an interview w/ me. We want to include questions from all of you, so this will be a good format. Unused questions will either be used in future interviews and/or be answered in our FAQ on our future web page. Super specific questions will likely be answered later as opposed to sooner. Please email your questions to aradune@hotmail.com -- we're excited to start this dialog with our future players! We hope to have our kickstarter page up in the next 3 weeks or so."

Another of the games I backed, Lily Looking Through, delivered last week. Played through with my daughter and she's playing it through again by herself. It's just lovely. A proper little adventure with plenty of character.

I also backed it to the level I get the soundtrack which I'm very happy about - so's my daughter who loves it :)

So that's two out of three completed Kickstarter games that I'm very happy with (FTL being the other great effort and Star Command being the dud ... and I've played early builds or alphas of 7 others that are looking very promising).

Seems the Wings kickstarter is about to be relaunched. In an update to backers of the previous attempt, they're saying that it's probably going to launch at the end of the week.

The last time they had pretty much nothing to show of a game, but a ridiculous amount of rewards. Hope it's drastically different this time. Wings is one my all time favorite games.

Julian Gollop will turn to kickstarter for Chaos Reborn, early next year.

Gollop said:
Kickstarter for Chaos Reborn

It's nigh time for an update on Chaos Reborn developments. After some discussions with several publishers, I have decided to go for a Kickstarter campaign early next year. I will be attempting to raise funds for a downloadable, DRM free, PC/Mac/Linux version of the game - everything included (no free-to-play or in-app-purchases). If I raise extra funds then I will consider other platforms, but the initial version will be PC focussed.
I have expanded my team and I have a small, but highly talented group of developers here in Sofia ready to go full time, funds permitting. We are busy preparing materials for the Kickstarter campaign, so watch this space for further updates.

Bowflex

The fact that anyone supports Hillary boggles my mind... I have tested between 130-160 on IQ tests
Not sure if this is the right place for this. I already made a thread in the OT, but maybe this is more appropriate. I am writing a novel about gamers and what drives them psychologically to play games and what consequences can come from too much or too immersive a level of escapism . It's set around on the supposed VR era that's been around the bend for a few decades, and the metaphorical vehicle for this is a dystopian speculative fiction journey into the New York City underground. Here's the link, if anyone would be willing to help out, however small....I'd be willing to hug you with my brain forever.

Why does the Boogerman kickstarter campaign fail so bad?
It has music of the effin Grant Kirkhope!
Really, really disappointed that this won't happen (for now).
